Sugar is a huuuuuuge issue nowadays. Everyone seems to worry about fats and calories, which DO make a difference if you aren’t careful, but sugar-rich foods are packed with easily available energy and we tend to eat far more of it than we should. And what’s worse, it’s extremely addictive!
I cut out soda, fruit juices except coconut water, and while I’m not militant about it, I try to limit my sweets. If I want something sweet, I’ll try to reach for nature’s candy, some fruit, instead of candy. I’ve lost several pounds and feel much better. Just gotta exercise more, otherwise I’m healthier than I’ve been in a while! I still treat myself to chocolate or icecream, but ever since I’ve started these dietary changes, the urge to eat things that are sugary and full of empty calories has waned tremendously. Too much will even make me feel sick!
I think we as a society need to learn to limit ourselves, and recognize just how addictive sugar is. As the ol’ saying goes, moderation is key!
