Well, appart from you strongly opposing it, I dont think the procedure itself is barbaric or antiquated. the shot system is actually one of the most painfree methods of execution known to mankind throughout its entire history. It is also not antiquated, as it is the newest form of execution.

Yes, I meant the the death penalty itself, not the ways in which the executions are actually carried out. Agree to disagree.
