Muellar did say that Trump did commit crimes just not enough to remove him from office.

And at his inditements the Republicans decided that Trumps crimes weren't crimes even though they agreed he had indeed committed them. That's why they didn't call witnesses. the democrats had already proved his crimes beyond doubt. 

What’s remarkable is you now have Republican senators coming out and saying, yes, the House proved its case. The House proved the corrupt scheme that they charged in the articles of impeachment. The president did withhold hundreds of millions of dollars from an ally to try to coerce that ally into helping him cheat in the next election. That’s pretty remarkable when you now have senators on both sides of the aisle admitting the House made its case and the only question is, should the president be removed for office because he’s been found guilty of these offenses?

What I find sad is that I think Trump supporters know how bad he is. That he is evil, corrupt and destroying democracy in their country. But he is "their" monster so they don't care.
