Gave us profiles to swipe one way or another on. Providing cultural ornamentation, long term mating solutions, child rearing strategies, signaling cues.......
Sexual dimorphism in human behavior tells us that amongst a group of men wearing crosses and selected for that fact, that the man wearing the most expensive cross will get more interest from females. Just that one thing suggests to the female that there is some commonality between them, and that this male is of higher status than the others. Similarly, a male seeing a catholic schoolgirl's plaid skirt in a group of otherwise pantsed females might expect submissiveness and availability.
As for the OPQ, it's not surprising when people turn to faith for hope, especially when faith is all they have left to lean on. I'm guessing this person couldn't be jetted off to the best hospital to receive experimental treatment. That there was nothing that could help in their friends and families medicine cabnets, and nothing they could say did anything to covid.
People do it because it makes them feel better, and feeling better - not necessarily being better, is the goal.
