Fear of death

Similarly with bikes(or any extreme sport) it's more real.
Yes, it is a dangerous sport, very dangerous. And only a fool would think otherwise.

I used to ride motorbikes but kept on falling off.

Nothing better than riding your bike in summer.

Nothing worse than riding your bike in winter.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

I believe we all have our own personal happy place to go to once we die. That's why everyone who has experienced a near-death experience sees something just a bit different that another person. It's different for all of us. But there is no god there or angels. It's a beautiful place just for us where we can see our loved ones, should we visit with each other. Smile And I do not fear my own death. In a way I do, we all do a little, but I am not terrified at the notion like I was a few years ago. I know I will be at peace and I do not want to fear something everyone seems to be so taboo on. Something that's going to happen to each and every one of us eventually. I'm trying to research and watch things to make me less afraid of death. It's just something I really do not want to fear. I'm making some progress but hopefully I'll get there some day.

I'm not sure how one who says he is an atheist can believe that there would be anything after this life. How do you rationalize such a belief, how would it be possible for an after life to evolve or come into being without an outside force or being. Don't you think that you should find out the truth, would you want to know if you are wrong?
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Nirvana is not even a happy place. It's a place best explained as "void", it's supposed to be an eternal bliss, but I don't even know what the word means, and the word that it pops up in the english-turkish or english-german dictionary is meaningless to me.

The same way that life formed, because it just did. I don't believe there is an afterlife for the same reason that I don't believe in god, but just as it is possible to believe in god without believing in unicorns it is possible to believe in an afterlife without believing in god.

I can't argue with the logic Rhizo but when you look at what little we know about consciousness it strikes me as even less likely to find a way to keep it going outside the living body than it does to eventually discover some minor little god living under a bridge somewhere. Well it's kind of tough to compare virtual zero with virtual zero but as your say, to each his own. Personally I intend to enjoy a very nice afterlife as compost in my garden. I hope to make it into some trees and some milkweed so that a monarch butterfly will take me into its tissues and take me aerial.

An afterlife is no afterlife without your self and consciousness.
This is what I expect from an afterlife, even if I'd have to spend an eternity in hell.
Certainly would not object to that.

One does not have to believe in your fairy tales to believe in an afterlife, up to and including any god. "Gods" are only a tiny sliver of the overall human experience of the supernatural, and are relatively recent inventions as compared to afterlives, which are positively ancient.

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

My sentient being. Me being able to see, feel and know that I exist.
Even if in eternal damnation.
