Actually, I don't accept TV programmes as authorities for anything. (They can't even get the fucking NEWS and WEATHER right!) Your argument may well be right for all I know.However, I need some credible evidence. Please cite say half a dozen papers by actual physicists.

As a MacHead I have been exposed to that artificial voice since 1984. I've hated it from Day One! I'm glad it gave Hawking a voice, for his sake, and for humanity's sake, because he's contributed enormously to our concepts of physics. But TBH I can't bear listening to that robotic, nasal, self-important twang! I much rather read what the man has to say. Although in his last book Hawking's thoughts and hypotheses have become rather heavy on spiritualism. A tad too heavy, if you ask me. I actually think he's lost it and gone over the edge...

The problem is that the BB theory flies in the face of a) logic, and b) observed evidence. Yet everybody blindly follows the BB theory. That's dogma. Analog to religion...

I am in no way absolutely certain of the concepts of space time and other things in nature, but it does become increasingly difficult to put aside the current model of physics as more discoveries are made. Even with what many morons think could derail physics, seems to just give us more reason to believe that we are correct.
Not everything is known and I am capable of saying that I could be very wrong. I also know that their are people who are far more intelligent than I am who do go by such a model of physics. I respect that they have greater thinking power than I do. Not everyone enjoys believing in bullshit.

It's high time parents paid more attention to their own kids (' education) and got involved.

Over here the problem is that too many do exactly that. They think if they can teach their little bastards only what they want them to know that they can control them.

I said for the parents to get more involved in, and more attentive to their own kids' education = their opening up to, and developing insight into the world around them. Instead of just throwing a chequebook at it.
I did not say for the parents to smother, brainwash, manipulate, and effectively close their kids' minds vis-a-vis the world around them.
That is precisely the opposite, and very bad parenting, imo. No different in the USA than anywhere else. (North Korea, anybody? Saudi Arabia? Etc. etc. It happens everywhere).

Second up - Penrose. So I'm thinking 'oscillating universe.' Last month I was reading talk on the physics forums to wit - no evidence. Even so, I don't see where anything changes if oscillation is a better fit as it is a pre-alpha/post-omega contention, where BBT is an alpha to now kinda outlook.

I mean, you do understand that the BB model is the theory that is currently accepted as our best explanation because logic has been applied to observations....and what this seems to suggest is the BB....right? You can find the wiki on BB Cosmology just to be sure you aren't being sold a bill of goods yes?
