Tarzan actor dies

Ttributes are being paid to one of Hollywood's most colourful characters. Cheetah the chimp, star of such classic films as Tarzan the Ape Man and Tarzan and His Mate, died on Saturday at his home at the Suncoast Primate Sanctuary in Palm Harbor of kidney failure. He was 80.
The star became the subject of controversy in 2009, following the publication of his tell-all autobiography Me Cheeta which lifted the lid on Hollywood's treatment of animal actors in the 1930s. Luminaries such as Chaplin, Bogart, Mickey Rooney and Rex Harrison were among those whose sleazy secrets were revealed to a shocked public.
Further controversy arose when it was revealed that another chimp had stolen the star's identity in a shady attempt to promote his own biography, however that claim has since been withdrawn.
So farewell then, Cheetah; actor, swinger and primus inter primate. Ungawa.
