Big Brother

RE: Big Brother
Context:

Authorities claim there are 'only' 1.85 TV cameras in England. That works out to one camera for every 32 people.

Use of CTV cameras in other countries:

I could not find figures for Australia.

Do I like them? No,but can't think of a viable alternative in say airports.

I wonder how hard it would be to create a device that constantly obscures your from cameras through some kind of radiation or electrical field that wouldn't damage everyone around you or yourself?

Maybe some kind of LED shroud that would change your appearance all the time like the agents in "A Scanner Darkly".

Infrared LED's.

Not a problem for humans, terrible, terrible problem (and damage if high intensity enough) for CCTV cameras.

RE: Big Brother
Looked around for IR leds that require heat sinks (as the highest power ones require that and I want a seller of decently powered ones), found a seller for high power IR leds:

I've not done the calculations for minimum flux, so I'm grasping at the highest-power straws. The spread of leds would have to be carefully placed, such as to prevent the leds from illuminating your face rather than obscure it.
