Is it true the Vatican has hidden historical texts?

But as the Catholic church trades on false reputation to much higher degree than any nation, I am sure Vatican archives would be the death of catholicism in the modern world to fully release. The great castration of statues held by the Vatican by pope Pious IX is no myth. But there is the other great castration perpetrated by the church that is even more sickening. For over 1500 years, the catholic church castrated poor boys and boy orphans so they can be forced to continue to sing in church choirs into their adulthoods without losing their angelic voices. These eunuch church singers were known as castraltos, sort of like male sopranos.
As evidence to that, a group of Religious leaders from Israel went to the Vatican to (again) request to see if any artifacts from the Temple is in their posession. (They did this a few years before and got some other stuff loaned as a result). So to shut them up, they were told, "Tell you what, we have this hand written text that is a collection of writings by Maimonides (the Rambam) that nobody else has seen, nobody who is alive, anyhow. We will loan it to you if you guys will just shut up and leave us alone". So that text arrived and was examined and copied here in Israel.
Now if that one little gem was in their posession ("Hey, how did you get your hands on this anyhow?"), imagine what other things they have! Maybe a letter from Paul of Tarsus to Gamliel the Elder saying "Ok, I did what you asked, they believe this crap. Can I come home now?!" http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=14...44,3783183

AND THAT is one really really GREAT reason NOT TO BELIEVE in the religion. Once has to assume that if they had any single document that provided unquestioned - completely verifiable - proof of their religious claims - they would have posted that supremely all across the world. THat they have not done so - means even they have no real proof to offer. So - they have to depend on the indoctrinated people who make unsupported claims. Likely no one person is an expert on all the content, but certainly it is not the case that the Church is deliberately withholding some information which may be of benefit or use to humanity. People say all kinds of stupid and crazy things about Catholicism and the Vatican. 99% of it is rubbish. My favourite is probably "Catholicism created Islam as a weapon, then lost control it it".
Nothing compared to the claim catholics make, that a god exists

Once you research and learn what a Chick Tract is you should feel pretty foolish for trotting this out as an example of the general population's misunderstanding of Catholicism. Anyway, the main reason for my responding to you was to give kudos for your signature quote from the film "Waterloo" ("hard pounding gentlemen.....") - a great quote from a great movie. So we are in the same place on films, at least, if not God! (February 26, 2013 at 9:56 am)cato123 Wrote: This comes from a Chick Tract. Hi cato123, I know well what a chic tract is, thank you. I do not feel foolish however, as many peoples understanding / view of Catholicism is based on such rubbish. Well, its either based on tracts, or on stand-up comedy, or on media reporting which obsesses about catholic abuse cases while ignoring all others. I have never met a secular or athiest person who was even remotely well informed about Catholicism, or had given any of its stances a fair crack of the whip with their analysis. Instead, most people are happy to dismiss us with a sneer and and ill-informed jibe about crusades, or the inquisition or something else from the distant past, of which they know little. The reason this sneering is so popular, is because its a lot easier than trying to deny the truth.
