Whatever you may think of Rand Paul...
...at least he's doing some good things:

Nice to see dodgy political tactics being used for good rather than evil. Big Grin

That's probably because he's one of the few senators who actually read those retarded internet censorship bills.
I disagree with him and Ron Paul on most things, but at least on the few things we agree on I know I can count on them to stick to their values instead of who's paying for their re-election campaign.

So... yeah. Kill the internet killing bills SOPA and PIPA.
If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church. At the next session you may ban books and the newspapers...
Ignorance and fanaticism are ever busy and need feeding. Always feeding and gloating for more. Today it is the public school teachers; tomorrow the private. The next day the preachers and the lecturers, the magazines, the books, the newspapers. After a while, Your Honor, it is the setting of man against man and creed against creed until with flying banners and beating drums we are marching backward to the glorious ages of the sixteenth centry when bigots lighted fagots to burn the men who dared to bring any intelligence and enlightenment and culture to the human mind. ~Clarence Darrow, at the Scopes Monkey Trial, 1925

Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first. ~Ronald Reagan

PIPA/SOPA is ACTA V2.0.

I'm expecting ACTA V3.0 in another year at this rate.

What are most things you disagree with Ron on? I don't think you disagree with him as much as you think. Trust me I felt the same months ago until I actually researched him thoroughly, and did lots of critical thinking about his ideas.

Ron Paul is somewhat decent on civil liberties.

Cant say I care much for him supporting "whites only" signs and other bullshit like that, but he does have his good points.

The point about "whites only" signs is that most white people wouldn't use those businesses either. The vast majority of the country isn't racist; only a (albeit very vocal) minority of birthers and neo-nazis.

In any case, why would a black man want to do business with racists anyway...sign or no sign?

As long as being a citizen doesn't rely on the colour of your skin, the constitution applies to all citizens. Equality is written into the constitution itself; you don't need additional laws to create equality, you need to revise the interpretation of the constitution.

Uh-huh. When was the last time you visited Georgia? I assure you it's not like it is in whatever fairy tales you've been reading.

Now, I am willing to give that Paul isnt a racist. Im open to that. but still, it shows a great lack of understanding about our country when he talks of such things. racism might not be the thing where YOU live R, but over here in America it is deeply ingrained within our society to its and mine ever lasting shame. Its not just a very vocal minority over here R. I wish I had a dollar for every time I encountered racism (on all sides) so far in my lifetime. Please believe me when I say that close to half of our country is still very much racist.

Quote:In any case, why would a black man want to do business with racists anyway...sign or no sign?
Because in our system he has no choice. That has ALWAYS been the point behind racism. It is to have an excuse to profit more from another persons life. "Theyre black? That means they are lazy and deserve less pay." My sister-in-law complaining about a black couple moving into her neighborhood "the property values are going to drop because of the niggers". My father: "Nigers just want a free ride". One of my bosses: "when the revolution happens, people like you (liberals) and the niggers and spics will be the first I will be shooting" several coworkers; "How can you stand working with that lazy nigger?" and such other foul comments. Every single member of my band are racist and have made off comments "Im not racist. I just dont want them niggers with white women."

Why dont I choose another band? I have. I have tried several bands. Every single person I have played with are racist, and some very outspoken about it. So I either put up with the racism or I play music by myself.

..sort of like how black people would have to put up with it and still do business with the racists as well.

I hope that clarifies the situation for you.

The constitution is a peice of paper that the vast majority of citizens prefer to wipe their ass with instead of read. The vast majority of Americans interpret the constitution dealing directly with themselves and their interests, and fuck all to anyone else. The constitution once stated that a black man was not considered a whole man, but his master could use him as a vote. Black women and white women had NO vote, as well as those who did not own property.

I dont think you realize the gravity of the situtation here in America. If only I had the money to fly you down here to north Carolina for a week.

I've been to Georgia three times, last time in 2010. All three times I met black people who were perfectly happy, and loved where they lived. Even met a few mixed race couples, again, no complaints from them. Georgia is one of my favourite states; the people are friendly, caring, and undeserving of any stereotype that is placed on them.

Oh, my goodness Adrian. You really need to brush up on reality.

Paul's election wouldn't impact the more enlightened parts of the country, as you say. But it would provide cover for the racist idiots who, I assure you, are still out there.
