Secular Party, yes. National Atheist Party, no. It's going to get as much mileage with atheists as the term 'Brights' has. The funny thing is they say theists are welcome. If they were welcome, you wouldn't call it the National Atheists Party, would you? It would be like the National East Asian Party saying Caucasians were welcome. It just doesn't strike one as sincere.
And here's the thing: they already know most atheists hate the name. But they're not going to change it. Never. Because they don't really care about representing atheists. It's just an internet fad.

Let me explain a few things:
The National Atheist Party, while it may have a scary name does not try to represent all atheists. The NAACP does not represent all "colored people" and they are not the only ones allowed to join. The Democrats are not the only one that support democracy, and the republicans dont support a Republic as far as I can tell. A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet. Language is a funny thing, having more to do with connotation than denotation but connotation can be changed, over time, by society. Atheism is not anti-theism, it is without theism. Politics without theism is supposed to be how it works but in the US it is not always so. So it should not be regarded as a worldwide movement. As far as I have seen atheism is more accepted in other countries. The National Atheist PArty tries to represent the members by developing stances on platform issues as voted on by our members. Some may say that atheism has nothing to do with politics but religion should have even less to do with it. As many can see religion has been finding ways to insinuate itself into our government, this is an action to protect us against that. As a single issue party cannot survive we also rallying behind issues that are important to our members, and many others.
Also I still do not understand how I got banned for sock puppetry. I participated in other discussions, I was not rude, I didnt post only NAP stuff and always backed up my posts with politely cited sources. I don't care if the people from there post on here. I am not afraid to tell you that I feel I was treated rudely and unfairly. I don't have to agree with you on the NAP but I would like to keep posting on current events that catch my attention and to continue to take what I can from others' posts

Being a sockpuppet means you make multiple accounts to avoid a ban.
But in any case the .org site is way better than the .com site

I disagree. Religion at least has a reason to be involved in politics. Atheism has no such thing.

There are better ways. Certainly taking a position on religion in any party is counterintuitive to your goals.

If the National Atheist Party does not represent all atheists, whom does it represent and why call it the National Atheist Party?

I've never created multiple accounts, I don't have the time too being a full time college student. If you don't like the NAP thats fine, but you would abandon causes were associated with just because? Sounds a bit petty to me but I can agree to disagree. Its not for everyone but it does interest some people do I would urge you not to put people down when the are a part of an organization that you don't agree with, be more open minded or just live and let live.
If we were just some annoying internet Fad we wouldnt be getting press coverage. We're just trying to make a difference anyway we can, help or not but dont stand in the way

I'd rather stop bickering when it is evident that it will get us no where. Just wanted to share an experience I had, not spark a heated debate and have to defend my organization. I am a member... not the organization itself, it doesnt completely define me but to say it plays no part would be a lie. Many of my posts will likely mention the NAP, sorry if you don't like it but I will refrain from shoving it where its not wanted.
