Be that as it may America has a thicker skin that most of us give it credit for. There was a time when America wasn't the #1 at anything in the world and it looks like we may be headed in that direction again. That doesn't mean America will collapse into nothing, but it might mean we'll loose bragging rights until we get our shit together again and come out at or near the top again.
We have that ability - we just need to deal with the rampant corruption in government.

Can't really think of anything America has to brag about at the minute. Pollution? Political corruption? Corporate greed? Being even more hated than us Brits? Immense debt? Imperialist foreign policy written by people who wear blinkers? Shit awful cars?

But don't worry, I love you.

I don't know many people who think a lot of those things, in the real world. Anyone who subscribes to those beliefs is a sheep, and they need to turn off the TV!

If people believe this, maybe it's time to eliminate misconceptions.

Again, are you sure that this is exclusively "American"?

Belief 5: The rich in America pay enough taxes.

No person believes that he is paying "less", when it comes to tax. Not the least the poor, nor the rich.
Besides, what is "enough" for you? What would you suggest?

Are you sure that people suggest that you expend more in terms of military?

Wow, what a bleak outlook on life. But maybe I should be happy more than anyone else in this thread to hear that ol' US is going downhill. That surely would aid the advance of my agenda one way or the other, but why would you really give up everything so quick, when nothing really looks bad at all? Like, for example, my friend went to America to study, as he studied in the SUNY program, half of his education in Turkey, half in America.
He told us that he plans to stay in America, to which I naturally objected, as I think that one can never be at ease so much in a foreign land than in his own country.
Now, my friend is not *poor* as you might think. In fact, his family is quite wealthy. However, he doesn't seem to think that America is a place where one cannot live.
I think you're not telling the truth about the state you're in.

I think that your beliefs are things that most would claim about Americans but just to stand up for us, it is a generalization. I still have hope for America. This new generation is one that recognizes the falisies in your beliefs and how we are currently being compared to other countries. I know many students in college that follow UK politics and admire many of your laws and wish them to be adopted here.
There is always hope as long as there are people fighting for a good cause and I think all of us here speaking our minds are doing some of that.
Speaking up about the problems and possible solutions to American problems is healthy and to be encouraged. Many say it is an up hill battle and not worth fighting but I will keep signing petitions and emailing senators and publishing political articles in hope that America is not totally doomed
