Well, thank goodness for kick-ass friends.

Best Valentine ever (Only some of you are going to get this):

That's the way I feel about it, too. And luckily for me, so does my wife. I absolutely hate Valentine's Day, but I do usually get my wife a card. I got her a card and a large bag of peanut M&M's, her favorite candy. The trouble with V-Day (didn't want to shorten it to VD, lol) is that everyone expects to go out for dinner, but the restaurants are always so stinking crowded that it's no fun anyway. That, and I don't get off work until 5:30, after a shower & getting dressed, we're usually not ready to leave the house until about 6:30, then it's usually a half-hour drive to the nearest decent restaurant. If we want crab legs, it's about an hour drive. By the time we get anywhere, we're starving and then there's probably at least a half-hour wait if it's a busy night like tonight will be. Then you have to add in the forced card/flowers purchase because, if you don't, then you're a cad. At least my wife prefers that I save my money and don't buy flowers, and would rather be surprised some other day.

No, I want to surprise her with flowers on some random day, and maybe cook her a romantic dinner. Though with two small children even that is difficult these days.

Though, if you want your mind blown, just think about how many people will be doing the horizontal mambo tonight.

You're tellin' me. I e-mailed Cynthia back and told her I went from pissy to laughing my tits off in .5 seconds.

On that note, I'd just like to get on a soapbox for a second:

I met those two by joining up with my local atheist group. Joining that group was probably the best decision I've made since moving down here, besides moving in with my roommate (and leaving the ex). It has been seriously nice to have friends like the people on this board who I can drink with, go out with, etc. I highly encourage everyone to google around and see if there's a group near you - people who understand the need some of us have for community still but don't want to have to go through a church or whatnot to get it. It's a great mix of ages, family sizes (the kids show up too) - basically everything that's great about going to church with none of the religion.

They've made today bearable, that's for sure.

With practice you can get pretty good with yourself. It turns out much of what you learn will work with your partner.

No significant other but if I did I'd do the dinner for two plus rose idea, sounds nice.
Still, making a youtube video of me crying in a dark room while coldplay plays in the background will be fun too.
I jest of course, snow patrol all the way.
