I'd vaguely heard of this, but what was the point of the vaginal ultrasound? To show the woman that there was an embryo in her uterus? Like she wouldn't know it? I know, all anti-abortion activists & politicians think that women are so wishy-washy that they'll see that blob on the screen and say, "Oh, how cute! I can't kill that cute little baby!"

The point was to make the procedure as drawn out and onerous as possible so that women would not have the procedure because of the roadblocks.
It is, yet again, an example of how these republibertarianeo-conazis want the "government" off their backs as long as they climb on someone elses.

The bill didn't require them to actually look at the ultrasound.
And they have the balls to bitch about the nanny state...

What do you guys think of this? It was just a thought? I get really tired of old, white (rich) men telling women what they should and should not do with their bodies. How about they butt out of women's issues and leave them to women? If an issue (like contraception or abortion) comes up in politics, the issue should strictly be handled by the women members of congress, the house, the executive branch? A women's committee in the white house. I like that idea. Albiet it could have negative consequences but it could be very interesting. Yes, I know...I don't think it should be a political issue at all, but let's face it...it is.

They aren't done. This isn't over. The reason this particular bill was dropped is because the bill mandated a transvaginal ultrasound, it gives the most detailed image of the fetus. Apparently the drooling waste of air that wrote this bill didn't realize this addition made it two steps away from state mandated rape.
