There seem to be two camps in this debate. Both consider it to be a question of conscience and a matter of great consequence. One camp feels it is imperative that the matter be decided everywhere in a manner consistent with their conscience. The other camp feels it is imperative that the person whose pregnancy it is must be free to decide the matter in a manner that is consistent with her conscience.

Lilly Blossom and myself may be the only ones on the forums actually rooting for the abortion so long as the would be mother is okay with that decision. As a pro-lifer (as opposed to the usual pro-human lifers), I root for the sapient ones to make choices that are good for all of life. I'm in no hurry to see us exhaust our petri dish to where it begins to rot. I understand there will be emotional baggage for the person considering the abortion no matter what her decision may be. However, my moral clarity on this manner leaves me hoping choices will be made which are good for the planet.

No one gets an abortion simply because their nutrients are being sapped. A person is a person. You don't want to share your food? Don't have a kid. (You're not arguing about rape victims so neither am I.)

It seems we're having trouble putting a definition on "person," and when a baby becomes one. Think about this: 50% of the time the baby is a different gender from the mother, and 50% of the time they have a different blood type. A pregnant woman goes in for a blood transfusion. She says, "I need A positive for myself and O negative in here." She points to her belly. "And by the way, it's a male." Are you telling me that baby is still only tissue? Where do you draw the line? Is a baby tissue at 24 weeks but a human being at 24 weeks and 1 day? How can you tell?
The verbal spanking will continue as long as you refuse to understand the difference between a pregnancy and everything else.

Siamese twins are not a pregnancy. Are they in the womb or walking around? If they are in the womb then mother can abort them for any reason at all, or NO REASON at all. If the woman does not wish to be pregnant, then she will no longer be pregnant. Anyone who tries to interfere is a tyranical dickhead and should be subject to that same woman deciding wether their balls should be cut off or not...since we are all of a sudden telling other people what to do with their sex organs.

Quote:No one gets an abortion simply because their nutrients are being sapped.
You have no idea why some people get abortions, nor does anything you say have any say so in their decisions.
Quote:A person is a person.
Right, because judges and people dont get together and decide to change definitions. Just like corporations are people now. A person is a person. The baby is biologically connect to the mothers heart, lungs, and digestive tract. That makes the unborn baby NOT a person, but part and parcel of the mother. It is the mothers body, its her choice.

If you have a womb, then you can choose to keep your baby and not have an abortion.

Quite frankly I dont believe a single thing from these anti-abortion people. They claim it is about the innocent children. If that were true these anti-abortion people should have a shit load of abandoned babies in their home and raising them. BUT THEY DONT.

You see. It isnt about the "innocent baby" to them. Its all about control. Being able to tell another person what they can or cannot do. Then, when the baby gets spat out, the anti-abortion type turns his head and says "youre on your own. We need to shut down welfare and food stamps! In no way am I going to pay for this baby to eat"

I agree with the OP but that has nothing at all to do with limiting or judging anyone.
