The sermons are normally boring and hymns suck. Couldn't they play some more exciting music?

Also the image of the God that the Bible portrays is that of a bloodthirsty and vain maniac not a loving god.
I can't imagine why you's really want that God to be true.

I can understand why someone would want to believe in a religion like Norse Paganism where the gods are kind of cool characters and Valhalla is a cool place where you just drink and party with hot chicks all the time.

The Christian heaven would suck anyway though as the religion is completely ascetic in things pleasurable.
I just don't see what anyone finds appealing about Christianity.

Christianity appeals to me because I want to be saved - that's just about it. Also, the stuff about boring music and rituals and sermons don't actually matter, all you have to do is follow Jesus and love your neighbor, your God, and yourself.

'Saved' from what?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

By "I want to be saved" you of course must mean, "I don't want to die". That's what you mean right? Follow Jesus and you are granted eternal life right? But aside from the fact that all religion is fairly falsifiable, what makes you so sure that, assuming there is a God, you've chosen the right one? Allah will give you eternal life too. What makes Jesus a better choice other that the fact that you've been more exposed to the Christian faith more than the Islamic one?

Sounds like you have less of a religion and more of a friend with benefits.

What if Odin is the real god and the Vikings were his chosen people, and everyone today is going to hell as they have rejected him? Thinking

Equally as plausible as any God in existence today.

The ruins of the Jerusalem Temple are from Herod the Great's building project. I defy you to produce a single artifact from the alleged "solomonic temple" anywhere.

I don't remember saying anything about Solomon.
Critical thinker, so basically you're saying you what a fire insurance policy. What about selecting a path that you feel will bring you into closer communion with God and your fellow human beings? Isn't that a better reason than having a get-out-of-hell-free card in your wallet?

Within 5 years of Jesus' death, Christianity exploded. Don't you think people 5 years within the fact would know if the claims were bogus? The claims I'm speaking of are Jesus' death and resurrection. God knew people would have a hard time accepting him on words alone, so he arranged actual recordable events. In addition to the evidence, we have the Holy Spirit. When we finally see the light, something clicks in the brain and it all becomes crystal clear. At that point Jesus is more real than anything else, and we know the truth. The process is not only intellectual but spiritual too. Why are people so moved to give their lives as missionaries overseas? Because they are positive of the truth. Muslims, Mormons and members of other fake religions are driven by fear. They only tell people about "God" or follow customs because they might end up in hell if they don't. Christianity is driven by love. Christians know they are already saved; they don't have to do anything. Any actions are a reaction to God's gift to them--eternal life and forgiveness for all their wrongdoings. Once we've determined in our hearts and minds that the Bible is divinely inspired, then we can use it to shape our lives. Christians don't need to read the Bible to learn God is good. They read it because He is good.

First, thank you for the links, it's always nice to be given an answer other than "I have faith", and it is much appreciated. However, I simply can't accept your argument that the fact that the bible has multiple authors, increases the likeliness of the books validity. In fact, I believe this is it's downfall, as it seems that none of these authors seem to agree on anything. Which is kind of strange if it only happened a few years prior to writing. One of densest areas of contradictions is found in the first half of the new testament, including the books, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Many people try to find inconsistencies in the bible but don't take into account the context, culture, and original language. This is my counter.

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

-4th verse of the american national anthem

Titus 1:12 "One of Crete’s own prophets has said it: Cretans are always liars." I think that qualifies as a contradiction.
