The phone battery would die quickly, especially processing GPS type data and communicating with satellites.
But yes it would work flawlessly until you lost power. A device with a long lasting battery is what they use(or self charging), no need to have all the "phone" capabilities just drains energy.
Ah yes the TOR network. the onion router network. It allows access to the "deepweb" only once connected to the tor network can you access .onion domains. Where all sorts of juicy stuff lies. Google does not list the data from this "unsearchable" internet, as it is dynamically changing. Bitcoins anyone?

When I was in the service, I spent most of my time at checkpoints. Random checkpoints, that we moved all of the time. We had a board we carried everywhere we went with a couple hundred people on it. Their photo IDs were physically pinned to the board. Out of those "persons of interest" we ended up actually finding a grand total of 0 over the course of two years. This, despite constant overhead flights by helicopter, satellite imagery, patrols on the ground, my checkpoints, random searches in private dwellings at o-dark-thirty, knowledge of where they were born, where they (supposedly) lived, their family, their friends...complete control of every road and path, and people sitting in well concealed holes in the middle of the wilderness surrounding the entire area.....which was, at best, 90 square miles.
We wanted these people, there was no oversight, no one advocating for them, no whistleblowers when we misbehaved, we had every tool at our disposal. Why didn't we find them?
so......
(forgot to mention we also had a vast network of informants)
Sure. And the DHS/TSA hasn't caught even one real terr'ist in a whole decade of draconian, billions costing farcical, and unconstitutional 'security' scheme, while hundreds of tests have shown that these systems did not catch 60% of them!
But if they want to screw YOU, they'll screw YOU!

It's because their are no "terrorists" to catch. WAKE UP!
Once you accept the fact 9/11 was not done by "terrorists" you realize TSA is a scam. Then you wonder why their is even a TSA. Then you get angry.

Telling people who already know about the concept of "Security Theatre" to "WAKE UP" is not only childish, but insulting and moronic.'
There is nothing you can possibly gain by assaulting the other side with pseudo-religious exhortations. And to me, it's irksome like the shit'n'run preachers.
Furthermore, indulging in conspiracy theories when discussing the limits of US INTEL is rather silly.

The TSA is definitely garbage, but I don't think anyone ever had any real reason to imagine it would work in the first place. The military actions I was involved in were very different in both scope of authority and tools available, and yet strangely achieved the same results. It's not easy to catch people who don't want to be caught (even if they don't know you're looking), armed with all the information you could imagine, it's still entirely possible to lack the one piece of information that you really wanted in the first place, a location. Complete surveillance is difficult if for no other reason than the massive amount of room for human error.

Yes. I know. I connected the dots.
But most everybody else seems to fall for the song & dance. Even those who honestly subscribe to the axiom that history is written by the victor. And at the same time willfully ignore the Gleiwitz incident, the Mossadeq overtrhrow, Operation Northwoods, JFK's assassination, the Gulf of Tonkin incident, MLK, Malcolm X, Bobby K, Salvador Allende, Nicaragua, Panama, the Oklahoma bombing, the WMDs, etc. etc. etc.
And then they have the chutzpah to call it 'the land of the free'.
With by far the largest percentage of its own citizens imprisoned in the world...
Watch the Iran scam unfold.

Promises of "revealed truths" go over real well with this crowd.

It's wake up to the fact that 9/11 was not done by radical Muslims.
