From a psychological point of view, it is not healthy to live your life with resentment or wishing for something that is never going to happen. It is far healthier to accept things as they are, and to accept people as they are. Any psychologist will tell you that.

No, it'll take a lot of years.
Why did you come on here and pretend to be an atheist anyway? It's not as if it's not obvious that you love jebus.
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

Wishing for a better world is not healthy.
Did you just philosophically flush charity down the toilet? It appears to be the case.

I didn't. I'm an atheist who is not so insecure as to despise people who happen to have a different opinion to me. You on the other hand are insecure which is why you can't accept people for who they are. It's not me with the issues, it's you. And no, it won't take a lot of years, it just won't happen. Most people in the real world are not like you, they get on with others.

I think you should just learn to accept that people are different.

You are a troll and a theist, and you're shit at both. Good day to you sir.

*sigh* The point is over here, would you like to take a u-turn and come back here.
Of course people are different, however, we are not talking about football fans here.
We are talking about a superstitious ideology which, while individually innocuous in the mentally balanced, is extra-ordinarily dangerous en masse and provides immunity for the unbalanced.
You seem determined to make this point that we are nasty, bitter people, who just want to rape peoples deeply held beliefs, because of our deep resentment of them and how we DESPISE their glowing presence.
Bullshit. Sorry. I'm a pretty laid back person, who enjoys the company of people regardless of their views. That does not mean I don't comprehend the harm that religion causes, and I find it personally insulting you wish to tar any anti-theist with a brush of despising people.

Each to their own, I say. Atheists, like theists, come in all shapes and sizes. I hope some of you, perhaps most of you, understand where I'm coming from.
The act of criticizing one's beliefs should have no bearing upon reason or righteousness, but alas, we live in a world of people with many prides and egos, but you seem to be missing a fundamental point of being an atheists, infact the only point: An atheist is someone that rejects the claim that god or gods exist, nothing else may be inferred or deducted from that. Sure, you may take the position of 'being nice' to religionists, mabe you just want to keep out of things. I find important to keep religionists in check with their beliefs, so that they don't try to infect reality with unreal beliefs. That said, people do take offense in my words when it comes to rebuke their religion, no matter how kind I am. And I do CARE if what I know its true.
People say you are a theist in disguize, but I'm holding judgement, for now O'm thinking you are a wrater inexperienced atheist to not suffer the frustration from appaling, ridiculous, cruel and inumane religious claims. I shall give you the benefit of doubt, for now.

LastPoet, you are right. I am relatively inexperienced when it comes to negative experiences with theists. It's partly because I am very tolerant indeed, yes that's true. But I don't see it as being tolerant, because I don't find them or their beliefs to be something to tolerate. I simply don't have a problem with it all. And it's partly because I don't tend to come across theists who also happen to be irritating. And it's also a question of give and take, and keeping an open mind when it comes to understanding where others are coming from. I try not to be judgmental and that's the key. People respond well to that. We all have a desire to be understood and when you grant that, you get positive results. For me it's about communication. Thanks for the welcome. I hope you understand.

Perhaps you haven't considered their beliefs deeply enough? The problem, for me, is not that I don't understand where they're coming from, it's that I do. This isn't some arcane mystery or cutting edge modern knowledge. We've had a long time to ponder over why people might believe what they do, what parts of us any given belief tug at, and what less than savory bits of ourselves these things can facilitate. Before we ever decided to voice the doubt that "god" didn't exist, we'd been roundly and successfully explaining just why "gods" didn't exist. Disbelief has existed at least as long as belief, and in all likelihood, even longer.
