Rush Limbaugh Says Republicans Aren't Sexist

RE: Rush Limbaugh Says Republicans Aren't Sexist
Oh sure ZS, the thought of women staying single and having lots of sex instead of being barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen either frightens or threatens them. Maybe both.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Fundamentally I think there's more. It's a bit more than that Loretta Lynn song "The Pill" (which was banned from the radio in it's day.

When a woman attracts a man it used to be called a woman's power over a man. This is a term that's coming back in style in fundy circles. Men are able to show their power by being taller (remember it used to be shameful for a husband to be shorter than his wife/girlfriend) and showing off that they are stronger but a women isn't allowed to show her power. This power is actually being discouraged in fundimantalism as it was discouraged in society in the past (about 40 years or more ago). The fundies back this up with that hated Bible verse, oh I forgot what it was, perhaps someone else remembers. Anyway I think this is more than just equal opportunity, it's the freedom to exert power.

In order to deflect the charge of sexism, republicans reveal that most of them have indeed, never, had sex.

That didn't occur in a public men's restroom, of course.

I don't know that fundies are all of a sudden trying to ban contraception because they are suddenly railing against sexual freedom and don't want women to have consequence-free sex. To be sure, this is what they want, but I think they just latched onto Obama's requirement that religious institutions provide insurance which covers contraceptives and have used it as a political football, primarily since this is an election year. They're so desperate to make Obama look bad that they're whining about him supposedly taking away their religious freedom by not allowing them to keep people from using contraceptives.

I think they have latched onto Obama's requirement but it has deeper roots. BTW here's what they are doing in Arizona http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/14...f=politics also this is a good link http://www.huffingtonpost.com/soraya-che..._ref=false

For a few decades some more radical fundies have been gravitating toward the "every sperm is sacred" idea. They claim it's a right to life issue but controlling sexual freedom for females has selfish benefit for the males (recall we are dealing with very sexist people here who have authority issues). I think everyone is familiar with the Duggars http://duggarfamily.com/ (gee, I wonder if the matriarch of that family has a dead fetus inside her will she have to carry it to term? Won't it be some sort of poetic justice if she dies from this?) I even knew people who chose not to use contraceptives for religious reasons, and they weren't Catholic.

It would muffle the sound a bit.

If Rush Limbaugh fell into a toilet, it would then be shit filled.
