Story Review
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this.

Quite some time ago, when I got into writing fanfiction, I wrote a story titled "The God Who Failed" - in which a god - portrayed as an arrogant and capricious mad scientist, muses over the main character of the show.

Yesterday, there was a new review written for it:

Quote:This story is very very bad idea. I don't like how you wrote about my Heavenly Father. You wrote him like he cared nothing for us. Which is why wrong in my book. This story should be taken off of here and burned. And one more thing. I pity you that you could write something like this. And I will all so tell you that Our Heavenly Father will always love you and will never leave you.

Riiight. So, ofcourse, I replied with

Quote:Take a chill pill. God isn't real. He's a made up character that serves as Santa for grown-ups.

Any thoughts or comments about what I should have said, could have said or might have to say in near future?

Naah, I'm not gonna say that. Any other suggestions?

None so far mate. "God" IS a Santa Claus for "grown-ups" who haven't left the nursery yet. Why should apologise...it is just a story any way... i might've gotten a bit more acerbic but I think you handled it rather well.

Religious peoples should not be surprised that their favourite fantasy is criticised. What is lacking here is the waste of 12 years of public education... something is going wrong.

Your deity is a murderous arsehole, Christian. Now I want YOU to think deeply on THAT and watch this....

Why should anyone respect a fictional character?

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

Ya know I have the highest regard for Satan ....as a fictional character...along with Han Solo and a myriad of other FICTIONAL characters!! Big Grin

Little bits...that is all ..... just little bits of the best of humanity.

Best part is that I KNOW THAT THEY ARE FICTIONAL AND DO NOT DESERVE ANY WORSHIP FROM ME!! Big Grin

He said the story should be burned? I HATE BOOK BURNERS. Tell him that he should be burned, because he'll never have near the originality nor meaningful impact on the world of the aforementioned story.
What falls away is always, and is near.

Also, I am not pretending to be female, this profile picture is my wonderful girlfriend. XD

Further update:

I received the following reply.

Quote:Well now I do pity you. And feel sorry for you. I will pray for you that one day you will see what God has done and will do for you. God Bless.

To this, I replied.

Quote:Not as much as I pity you.

Its a pity that you cannot find meaning and comfort in your life without the support of imaginary beings. Its a pity that you have to turn from reason and rationality to gain a sense of security. Its a pity that you cannot face the reality - that the universe is a cold and uncaring place and yours is but a momentary life to be extinguished from existence upon your death. Its a pity that instead of accepting that reality and making your momentary existence worthwhile, you have chosen to accept the denial system of bronze-age goat-herders.

I pity you because of your self-imposed blindness that will never allow you to see the truth. Actually, pity isn't the right word here. Since your ignorance is self-imposed, what I feel is contempt. I'd say something like "I pray that someone will talk some sense into you", but a) prayer doesn't work and b) I don't think you are open to sense.

I might have gone a bit overboard here. But I regret nothing.

I think its a "she" and the story was posted on a website. Maybe she was talking about burning her computer - which I'd be in favor of. I'll confirm.

I don't think the story will have much meaningful impact (even though I did think it an original idea). It was just a fun little mental burp I wrote down.

(I find it does convey the message even to the thickest theist.)
