And by 2030 infra-red webcams in your bedroom to monitor spousal abuse and perverted sex acts.

And before you know it, it'll be like 1984 Tongue I doubt people will take kindly to being spyed upon more than they already do, and no government will want to be remembered as the people who started spying on kids.

I see the paranoid promotion of Big Brother isn't just a trend in America. As if our freethinking friends from across the pond need any warning about the possibilities, the same kind of "for our own good" legislation paved the way for W. Bush to spy on peace activists and phone sex between service members overseas and their spouses here in the states. You can imagine my shock.

EDIT: Sorry. Posted under my Poe account but I'm being serious about this one.

No problem. "It's for their security". If you oppose the measure you will be branded a potential child molester.

Also: you're assuming the people will still have anything to say about it. The way things are going it doesn't look like that will be the case by then.

I actually own a first edition of '1984,' so hopefully your(and ours) Big Brotherish tactics will increase its value.

You're assuming you will still have the freedom to sell it publicly without attracting unwelcome attention from BB, who will want to bury it. And you.

Now that's funny...and scary.

And a frighteningly real possibility, the way things are going.

Best put down your deposit on that freezing log cabin now then.

Oh, and BTW, don't think you can evade surveillance. Drones and satellites with super high resolution (infra-red) cameras will be watching over your well-being...

They've already got that angle covered, Gooders, because how are you planning to go to Canada without a passport? There's an RFID chip in there, you know. And by 2030 we'll all have one embedded under our skin: a 24/7 tracking device. (All of us already voluntarily carry a fully trackable mobile phone with us today everywhere we go...)

They are not putting a chip in me no way, and if they to I cut it right out. I die before I give up my freedom.
