My understanding of Greece is that it's a model for conservatives here (often cited by them in their rhetoric). The rich pay less taxes and the rest of the population get "austerity".

That's what conservatives did to our country as well. In 2008, Wall Street crashed our economy and got bailed out by the taxpayers. Then Santelli got up on TV on behalf of the people who got bailed out after crashing our economy to scream at Obama for bailing out the "losers and their mortgages" (which Obama never did or even proposed). The spin is that poor people caused the crash and so the Tea Party was born.
