Uhhh.... because the US and British governments aren't dictatorships.
Case in point and nominally relevant:
Brian Haw was a peace campaigner who set up camp in Parliament Square, opposite the main entrance to the Palace of Westminster, our Houses of Parliament, in the months pre-9/11 2001 to protest the UK and US foreign policies. He remained encamped there for the next ten years until his death last June, a loud and painful thorn in the side of the Government each day throughout.
In 2005, special legislation was enacted in Parliament and, among other things, was intended to get rid of Mr Haw's embarrassing (to Ministers) reminder of their own actions by making it illegal to demonstrate within a mile surrounding the Palace of Westminster. Unfortunately for them, the new law was ruled illegal in the case against Mr Haw, as he was already set up when it was enacted. In practical terms, this meant that Brian Haw, the one man the Government wanted to remove, became the only man in the world legally allowed to protest outside Parliament.
As Daily Mail pundits might say: you couldn't make it up.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Al-qaeda is an extension of the C.I.A. Osama Bin Laden had strong financial ties to the C.I.A. They are the scapegoats, the made-up enemy. In reality, our infantry in Afghanistan are the real terrorists whether they are aware of it or not.

Are you fucking REAL? Go ahead and ask anyone in the streets if they would put the head of Bush on a pike if they could. I can promise you 7 out of 10 will say yes.
Quote:I don't see anyone protesting here in the streets of Philadelphia. What are you talking about? The occupy movement?
Yeah, that and the political rallies for the Tea Party, the momentum that's starting to be gained for the American Socialist Party, and the numbers of protests against Congress in DC lately.

I'm sure China and Russia would have something to say about that.
Nothing meaningful, but yes, they would. Lots of posturing and grandstanding but fact of the matter is China wouldn't even be a global power without the US and Russia is a corrupt cesspit whose only exports are second-hand corner-cut second-rate machines of war and natural gas whose profits largely go towards those in the higher echelons of office rather than circulating into the economy. Russia's a joke, a shadow of what they once were, and China's still like 30 years behind the US in almost every way. China's day may come but for now, it's still the new kid on the block.

Boooy oh BOY is it a good thing we are not discussing this in person or I promise you that you would be on the ground begging for mercy as I beat the everliving shit out of you. You just spat on my family with what you just said. My brother is over in Afghanistan right now risking his neck to try to fight off the taliban and you say shit like that? Kid, you're a fucking joke, an armchair warrior, and clearly you hold no respect for others, and ergo I hold no respect for you.
Take your tinfoil hat. Turn it sideways. Shine it up real good.
And shove it straight up your ass.

I never mentioned anything about the victim's families of 911. My point is the fact that MOST Americans don't follow politics, don't vote, don't follow current events and for the most part are just concerned with their own private interests. To think that every modern American has a 'revolutionary' spirit is absurd. Most Americans simply don't give a shit about 911 or the war on terror. It may be sad but it's the truth.

Time to school you, dumbass: Just because you say something is true...DOESN'T. MAKE. IT. TRUE.
If Americans didn't give a shit about 9/11, then why is there a yearly commemoration and observance that virtually everyone follows? I dunno what perceptions you are basing off of but turn off the fucking reality TV shows and get with actual reality. In case you aren't aware, news programs are some of the most-watched programs in this country; WHY WOULD THAT BE THE CASE IF THE MAJORITY DIDN'T PAY ATTENTION TO THE GOD-DAMN NEWS, YOU TWIT?! Stop posting! Seriously! All you're doing is just blowing shit out of your ass! You're pissing me off, you're pissing other people off, and the rest are all laughing at you; CUT YOUR LOSSES AND GO AWAY.

You seriously think if it came out that the American government was slaughtering thousands of its own people, that the citizens would sit in their arm chairs and not give a shit?
Honestly, that's just retarded.

I don't mean to disrepect any soldier fighting overseas. I support all the troops but not our government's position. I served 4 years in the USAF. Yet have your brother tell you all his war stories someday when he makes it home. I bet they aren't all heroic and done in the best interest of national security. Soldiers are usually the first ones to denounce our foriegn policy because they see first-hand what a sham it all really is. Remember what a waste of time the war in Vietnam was and how the veterans got screwed? Afghanistan has already been going on a year longer than Vietnam. Just saying...

There are thousands, perhaps millions of 911 Truthers who believe, such as I , that the government HAS slaughtered their citizens. I don't see 911 truthers revolting in the streets because of it, because they know that as soon as they do, they get arrested or shot.
So what exactly would you do about it? Get your hunting rifle and storm Congress? HAHA! yeah right! You'll get knocked on your ass by martial law before you even leave your house!
