It wasn't a vacation, we just went there for a few days at most.
My real vacation starts in 5 days, friend.
But it was fine, actually.

Who are you to spark civil wars, and who are you to fuel them?

We ourselves were supplied by the French during our revolt.

That's who we are.

Well, this still doesn't give you the right to incite revolts in order to install your own hegemony in parts of Africa and the Middle-East.
Mind you what happened in Iran and how people willingly submitted to the molla regime to stay clear of US hegemony.

You asked who we thought we are. I responded.

And I've already detailed Iran and its emergence in the thread on Turkey's incident with US soldiers. Of course it isn't wise to fuel instability without giving something in return.

Iran was "too good a deal" and the Iranians revolted. The First Indian War for Independence arose out of similar constraints -- the East Indian Company was bankrupting the nobility, enshrining inequality and unabashed about their religious interest in converting the locals. In other words, the Company was destabilizing the country in the name of profits.

You'll note that after the Indian revolt, the British seized control of India from the Company out of punishment and enacted a ton of social changes, most notably the Indian university system.

I wonder often if the greedy interests of ours had been reined in, Iran would be a better place. We can never know now, and like the British, seem to idolize wealth above all else, including the good will of ones alliances.
