Again Plato had a "philosophy" of "essence". People have economic "philosophies" and political "philosophies".
That is why I hate the word. Instead of using the word "philosophy" in regard's to scientific method, call it what it is "a tool". A Jew and a Muslim can argue over a god, they cannot argue over DNA which was uncovered by the tool of scientific method.

Philosophy is the study of fundamental problems of reality, existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language, not how the study is done. Science therefore is most certainly a philosophy. The fact that these things have been studied using techniques different from science, and the scientific method has demonstrated a pragmatic potency unparalleled by those earlier methods, doesn't change the fact that science is still a philopsphy, just as the fact that Cars may have superceded horse and buggy does not change the fact that car is a vehicle just likethe buggy. The fact that you hate the word philosophy doesn't mean you can redefine it and force the definition on everyone else.
