It's true. Once brain death has occurred, the personality dies and the person comes just a biological machine.

The Brain=Mind Fallacy

I'm not really following some of the things being said in this thread.
I'll probably regret asking this question...why can't it be said that thoughts are physical?

And as far as insults, don't bring a knife to a gunfight. "Ridicule is the only weapon which can be used against unintelligible propositions" Thomas Jefferson. You have NEVER in this thread stated your end goal. All you have tried to argue is that thoughts have no mass. SO THE FUCK WHAT. When I went to college, when we wrote papers ON ANY FUCKING SUBJECT, there was an outline. Say what you are going to say Say it Say what you said. The fucking idea was not just to make a statement, BUT TO FUCKING BACK IT UP! And so far all you have argued is that "thoughts have no weight or mass" SO THE FUCK WHAT! WHAT IS YOUR POINT? I know what your point is and that you want to defend woo and magic and don't want to take any of your naked assertions into an independent lab to be verified. So that leaves you with mental masturbation. (June 1, 2012 at 6:52 pm)teaearlgreyhot Wrote: I'm not really following some of the things being said in this thread. It can, that's an option, in fact it's more consistent with materialism. the problem is that it destroys freewill, we basically become automatons, Daniel Dennet agrees, saying freewill is illusory. Science will figure it out eventually, but for the time being, we cannot say one way or the other.Indeed science may figure it out once we recognize that the materialist paradigm presents an insurmountable barrier to better understanding. I do not argue against science only the simplistic theories of simple minds. Oh, I don't think I have any problems with that then. If freewill is an illusion, so be it.
