You talk about people as if they all think the same.

Cite at least one example and explain why you think that.

Quote:The Africa population is over a billion people.

And some of them believe in child witches.

Quote:How many of them still believe in ghosts?

As many of them that believe in ghosts, I would think. What's the price of tea in China?

Nobody is.

And he can't take a joke. Someone bring the smelling salts, I'm about to faint with shock.

I don't mean to get on your back, you seem like a nice person. I'm just a bit cynical of some of the tactics used on this website to get a discussion going about how stupid religion is.

please ignore me and get to the part about how God is bad.

Fire away Aleialouria this is funny. It's like Mad magazine's "snappy answers to stupid questions" but with a rational twist. You're great (no I'm not being sarcastic, your rapid fire was great).
I have studied the Bible and the theology behind Christianity for many years. I have been to many churches. I have walked the depth and the breadth of the religion and, as a result of this, I have a lot of bullshit to scrape off the bottom of my shoes. ~Ziploc Surprise

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I don't think the point of this thread had much to do with God being bad. We can talk about how religious organisations manipulate the fears of the credulous and the superstitious if you like, as in the links I supplied on page one.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Oh god. ...

ok, first things first. i was thanking you for specifying which country the article you posted was about. saying african anything is like saying asian anything - would i be talking about india, turkey, china, russia or whatever corner of the continent i missed? when people speak of african anything, they're usually saying black africans and the truth of the matter is that there are all hues present. that's why i appreciate specificity. but if you're so high and fucking mighty about how tired it must make you to comment on me bringing up that all africans are witches, you will surely find them in a single place - you won't need as many links. if you're right, that is.

now, you quoted me in your post, then started lambasting *someone* about "Or you could just quit the speculation and research the shit yourself." and spouting off about fundies. i assume you were speaking of the other guy. i'm going to ask you to clarify that, so i know where you stand.

Sorry, I'm tired.

As for the African thing the problem is in the African regions I mentioned (it might also be in southern Africa but I don't know so I left it out). The problem also resides with some (not all of course) of the ex pats of the regions mentioned. There was an incident in the U.K. and I seem to recall an incident in the U.S. but I could be recalling incorrectly. One thing is certain the witch hunting churches exist in the U.S. As I recall there have been no reports of child abuse that can be directly linked to the preaching in these churches (just random medically crazy people). The problem is that the asshole preachers in the (named) African regions come here, make gobs of money and this funds their horrors in Africa.

On another note If y'all don't mind I'm going to quit for the night, I might read a bit but I'm too tired for debate. I can't even type well. I keep making errors.

If anyone is truly interested tomorrow, I''ll post liknks

Aleulskjdfljldlk (however your spell your name) you made my day. I'm still laughing.

lol, i am not digging for a debate right here. all of this kind of stuff is probably in a majority of countries period, not just african countries. i would guess that it's also a very small percentage of the populations as well. anyway, i get what you're saying here and the points you made, do sounds familiar to me. i was wondering why you went ad hominem on me when i was complimenting your word choice.
