RE: I has 51 inch laptop monitor.
I have a triple screen set up at work. One macbook pro, one large Asus flat screen (HDMI,DVI) and my personal laptop. I use Synergy+ to control the mac from my laptop ( I've an usb keyboard and mouse ).

I can easily change the middle screen to either laptop (usually if I want to play games on the much bigger screen).

Debug binary on Macbook laptop screen, code on big screen, email on personal laptop.

Productive.

I forget, but it's fairly limited. I did some research;my laptop cannot play some of the more popular games such as The Elder Scrolls or Age Of Empires.

The Laptop is a Dell Inspiron N5030

My laptop can play those games easy.

I often install texture packs and the like to make it look even better.

Acer Aspire 5745G, Optimus (Intel+nVidia) graphics.

Lol. If you're on an underpowered laptop or one with just Intel graphics, it'll choke. Wink

I'm in technology, so I know what to select.

Next laptop you get, drop me a line before you purchase and I can suggest/evaluate.

I love laptops that can do everything a desktop can. Big Grin

Oh. Basic specs and review suggest perhaps I'd better not. To be fair I didn't buy it for games. I have the Acer Aspire Z5761 for that; core i7 processor, 8 GB RAM ,Nvidia Geforce GT520 graphics.

Yeah, it won't make the cut.

Heh -- I've a GT420M for my Acer's secondary card. Yours is one generation after mine. Games will play nicely on it. Big Grin

Nope, I know someone that has one - not gonna work for demanding games. You really need a good dedicated card (rather than the on-chip integrated graphics). My second laptop has a dedicated mid-range nVidia card and that's marginal on many titles. My newer laptop (w/nVidia GT555M) does fine.

You could run plenty of older and/or non-graphic intensive titles for sure (which is not a terrible things - there's lots of older stuff worth playing if games interest you at all).

My old laptop has a GT525M, faster than the GT420M I think, but not by much. Worked well most of the time on most games, with reduced settings on some. Running at native 1080 HD resolution is a lot to ask. Big Grin

The GT555M is quite a bit better, but came at a price of course.
