While GC isn't any better than we expect him to be, I take him at his word that he gives to charities and otherwise helps others. His contempt for atheists doesn't mean he holds the disadvantaged in similar contempt...unless they're disadvantaged atheists, I suppose. I understand why you're angry though, I was for a minute myself about that post and expect there will be future ones that provoke the same feeling.

I know of plenty, I was raised by them. Try Googling 'Does God torture people' if you want to view an assortment of opinions on the matter. Is it your position that God doesn't torture people because hell automatically tortures people so God doesn't have to be actively involved, or are you a Universalist?

We do think it is hypocritical for Christians to be judgemental when they believe that God has instructed them not to be. Since we are not operating under a blanket injunction to do things like 'turn the other cheek' or 'judge not lest we be judged ourselves' we are not being hypocritical when we don't operate under the same guidelines we don't observe a Christian observing. Seeing how reliably some Christians throw the teachings of Jesus under the bus when provoked just reinforces our opinion that your religion and personal relationship with God doesn't change you much.

Judging from the total lack of people in his corner both Atheists and Theists seem to be particularly perplexed by how he can attempt to make children dying seem like a perfectly good and justifiable thing.

I also would say yes, that sentence you presented was insulting but was it not also a proposition that most people in most walks of life would have little trouble complying to? Admittedly few would make claims of an invisible man taking morale pride in innocents dying as a result of the chain of dominos he set off that just happened to be the entire universe but still, that just means its a reasonable request of an unreasonable individual.
