The claimed cost of upkeep of these new microjets are in the region of $2000-4000 a year, plus hanger fees, which are similar.
Private aircraft tend to depreciate quickly. If the trend holds for micro-jets, then in about 5 years, you ought to be able to get used one in good condition for, say $200,000. still expensive, but not out of reach of mortals.

pffft private jet, I'd get myself a hovercraft, paint eels on it, and go around town on it, and if people try and stop me I'd just hop over the river.
That or buy lots of advertising space, mostly newspapers maybe radio even, tv would be too costly, and have a good rant.
I'm not big on heights, or lots of animals (I HATE most dogs, so the attack dog training thing would be hard for me) but i'd get it done for 1 million. I draw the line at the truly grotty and harming others without their consent.

Chuck, that is almost frightening. I would not want the average idiotic big spender in reach of a jet. Think of all the jets that would be available and all of the idiots who would think they could fly them. *shudders* I dread the day that the sky becomes like the ground.
Being completely inflexible and unable to conceive of exceptions is not necessarily a good thing. The best people history has ever produced were those who knew when to be steadfast and when to look at both sides of the coin equally carefully. Shit, even the best characters in literature are like that. We need more Atticus Finches and fewer moral code thumpers.

I don't care. There are some things that are just not worth it. One million dollars certainly isn't. My moral code is my own business, and it's not as inflexible as you seem to think. Maybe that's because you don't know my code, but I can tell you that when you call me an absolutist as if it were a dirty word in regards any sort of human right, you'd be right.

Relax, Annik. This is a whole different thread. Anyway, I would agree that 1 million dollars is not worth doing a great deal of things. I do disagree that you are not as inflexible as I think. You are either very inflexible or stubborn enough to feign inflexibility in order to continue an argument. Yes, moral absolutism is wrong. I stand by that. It is one of the least logical positions on morality. Two human rights can be at a conflict in a moral situation. A moral absolutist would find themselves in a position of cognitive dissonance if they fail to adapt to reality and continue to adhere to a an unrealistic moral construct.
As for knowing your "moral code," of course I don't know it. I doubt you even know it yourself. Such is the case with almost all of us. You can sit here and type absolutes from the safety of your desk or wherever. It is much different thing to be faced with a situation. I can't say with absolute certainty what I would do if faced with a moral dilemma that conflicted with two of my beliefs and I had to make a choice, but at least I would make that choice with some flexibility instead of doing stupid things like a condemning a man who was protecting a child because of some ridiculous absolute, I can tell you that much.

I really don't want to get into another screaming match where I try to dodge the mud. Just don't pretend to understand me or my ideals. Your judgements on them invalid, as you even admitted when you said:

I wouldn't harm myself... emm... can't really think of much else.
When it comes to killing someone, it depends who it is. My answer would usually be no, but there are people this planet could do without.
I'm not really capable of saying what I would and wouldn't do... I don't know what would go through my mind if the money was right in front of me. Money can do crazy things to you... kind of like vagina.

For a million dollars, (which think is about £10 these days) I still could not believe in a god.
I could pretend to though.
You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

Isn't that true! Actually, I turned down a perfectly good vagina once on principle. It made me so crazy I rejected it! I dunno what the hell I was thinking. Unfortunately, unlike money you can't just put vaginas away and use them later when you want to. Unless you're a woman, of course.
