Thou Shalt not commit logical fallacies
August 3, 2012 at 9:30 pm
A useful website exolaining the different logical fallacies.
http://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/home
I have used it to learn more on what they mean.
"Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful" - Edward Gibbon (Offen misattributed to Lucius Annaeus Seneca or Seneca the Younger) (Thanks to apophenia for the correction)
'I am driven by two main philosophies:
Know more about the world than I knew yesterday and lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you' - Neil deGrasse Tyson
"Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." - Mark Twain

Is it fallacious to make spelling mistakes?

Why is that people who are dyslexic always manage to correctly spell "dyslexic?"

I'm not dyslexic, but if you read stuff I write, you might come across something like "wierd vicissitude". I have a friend who can properly spell out words that I've never heard of, yet will misspell 'penuts'. It's wierd!

I actually liked the site.
Quite good definitions, with good examples, of various fallacies. Good sense of humor.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
