In the early 80's,I had an endoscopy. They gave me intravenous Valium. It was wonderful;of my face for nearly 12 hours. Tiger

I caught a flight with a friend of mine, who is extremely anxious on planes.

He took a good dose of valium and was high as a kite (in the best way possible). Definitely helped him.

I do think he took 3 times the recommended dose though...

I've been given both Valium and Ativan prior to anxiety inducing medical procedures and the effect has varied from a state of calm to knocking me out completely. I've also been prescribed clonazepam as a sleep aid.

On the other hand, I have taken both xanax and clonazepam for anxiety and panic attacks and in those cases it just takes the edge off and helps me calm myself.

In my experience, the amount of sedation and impairment is affected by my anxiety level. YMMV, and not making any recommendations.

I got intravenous ativan twice in April (or was it May?). They also gave me this anti-nausea shit. I fell asleep two minutes later and was still sleepy when they woke me up to change my iv. Magic.

Oh, believe me, I know exactly what you're talking about. Those things are simultaneously your best friend and worst enemy. I was on a very large dose for about 13 years, and when I weaned off of them, I think I did it too quickly. I know I am much better off without them, but I would have a hard time turning them down if a doctor prescribed them to me. You know, once an addict, always an addict, and all the talk of IV benzos is making my mouth drool. That's my problem, though, not yours, so don't feel the need to curtail such talk on my behalf.

Plus, I wanted to throw in an obscure Stephen King reference and see if anyone noticed.

13 years... I can only imagine. I tapered off over a period of 6 weeks after a year of daily use, not a lot of fun, but worth it. I hardly ever use them any more.

Why do they bottle them in such servings then?

You do know that the cork is designed to go back in?

Give yourself a break from thinking about it.
Easier said than done I know but you're needed at your best and you're not at your best without alittle rest.
Do something you enjoy and just live in the moment for an evening, indulge in a few luxuries.
You've earned that much.

After that you'll be ready for round 2.
