Movies That Should Have Been Epic

RE: Movies That Should Have Been Epic
I fucking love The Fifth Element. Don't you go dissin' that film, too. It took art direction from a comic book guy, so it ended up being like a live-action comic. Which I adored.

I wasn't dissin' The Fifth Element. I love that movie. It's not a serious sci fi movie, obviously. It's sci-fi comedy.

"The Tourist". How can a director who makes such a genius movie like "Das Leben der Anderen" (The lives of others) continue to make something so shit!

I can agree with that. It was a sci-fi action comedy. And it was super green.

I can't be bothered looking through the thread to see what films have been mentioned, so if I repeat anything, suck on my Biggoron Sword.

Eragon should have been awesome. I read the book when I was pretty young, but the movie was so painful to watch.

Dragon Ball Evolution... hah... well, Dragon Ball is my favourite manga and I knew the live action film was going to be atrocious, but I went to see it anyway. I must say that it is one of the most amusing things I have ever seen.

Except for "Angela`s Ashes"

I have to disagree, and not going to argue but...

The Road, Silence of the Lambs, The Thing, Trainspotting, Ex-Drummer, Children Of Men, Das Boot, The Godfather and hundreds more.

So you can say that you've never seen any movie based on a book that you liked?

Incidentally, there are rumours of a Blade Runner 2 floating around, as well as a BR/Prometheus crossover.

Not a rumor, Scott is putting off the sequel to prometheus to film.

A direct sequel to blade runner, and Scott has also said that both alien and blade runner Ate in the same universe. There was an easter egg buried in the extras of Prometheus tying them together.

Here's my addition to the list: Night of the Hunter, Pickpocket (based loosely on Crime and Punishment), Lincoln Lawyer, Sophie's Choice, The Hunger Games, Mystic River, Shutter Island, Gone With the Wind, Postman Always Rings Twice, No Country For Old Men, True Grit (either version), Little Children, Treasure of the Sierra Madre, The African Queen, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Maltese Falcon, From Here to Eternity, either the 1933 or the 1994 version of Little Women, American Psycho, The Shining, Day of the Locust, The Butcher Boy, and (my all-time favourite film) A Clockwork Orange. And that's just movies I own on DVD!

Oh, and Angela's Ashes is an autobiography, not a novel, unless in Germany "novel" means something very different from what it means to us yanks.

Of course, I do agree with you: The Tourist is definitely big a step down.

As a life long fan of Garfield, I was really disappointed in the Garfield movies.

I loved the Australian movie , its weird and funny. Ever since seeing the movie, salvation army women seem a little sexier. Smile

Although it's not a movie it should have been an epic series, Firefly.

It wasn't, but it wasn't a blockbuster success either.

Deckard's V/O was Scott's initiative. The major offense to the theatrical cut was the ending.

Here's my next one:

LEGION (Exorcist III)

Although I haven't read the book, I understand that Legion doesn't have an exorcism in it, and it was tacked into the movie at the studio's instance. Angry If they had trusted W.P.B. then they would have had another blockbuster like Exorcist I.
