Chick-fil-a: no longer funding hate groups?

It looks like Chick-fil-a is backing down. Reports are that they are no longer donating to anti-gay hate groups.

Does this mean the boycott worked? If so, does that mean we can eat there if we want? Or that we should, to support them now that they've given up their financial support of homophobia?

Appearently the love of revenue trumps the love of Jesus even for those who alledgedly run their business solely to "Glorify God".

I'm just glad the GLBT community not eating there hurt them more than homophobes going out of their way to eat there helped them.
For the record, as much as I think the company was making some dick moves, I think the cities that were trying to stop them from doing business within their city were out of line. Freedom of speech is there, specifically to protect unpopular speech. If he wants to advocate homophobia, I don't like it, but I don't want to use the force of law to silencing him, either.

Not surprised. Capitalism is almost a religion in itself.

That was actually quite quick. It only took about two months for it to go from a shitstorm to a borderline non-issue. Maybe in a few months, people will be able to actually treat it like it deserves to be treated: not as a litmus test over one's politics, but as a goddam fast food outlet.

I hope so, my 4 year old loves their nuggets and waffle fries (don't knock me, it's better than McDonald's franken-nuggets).
Wow... If the boycott worked...
Who's with me to take down Wal*Mart?

Tell me about it. I went to the Chick-fil-A restaurant on the Magnificent Mile so I could see what their food was like. I found that the food was certainly better than McDonald's and I thought it was a damn shame that a company that makes such food had to be tied to a bigoted set of PTBs.

My boyfriend works for Wal*Mart, so my own financial well being says I can't be involved in this one.
Truth be told, Wally World has been getting a lot better, at least as far as GLBT people's go. For example, about a year ago, they added 'transgender' to their employee non discrimination policy. Plus, pretty much everyone he works with knows we're together and nobody ever gives him any grief over it.

A little too late to make a difference.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

According to the article, Chick-fil-a isn't exactly shouting this from the rooftops. Perhaps they are afraid to anger Mike Huckabee.
