You are absolutely right. I am humbled by your insight. What a great God that even in spite of my unworthiness He condescends to a relationship with me.
I am glad that salvation depends not on my works, but God who has mercy.
Jeff, Sam Harris wrote this in "Letter to a Christian Nation."
Quote:There is, in fact, no worldview more reprehensible in its arrogance than that of a religious believer: the creator of the universe takes an interest in me, approves of me, loves me, and will reward me after death; my current beliefs, drawn from scripture, will remain the best statement of the truth until the end of the world; everyone who disagrees with me will spend eternity in hell. ..
Read it closely. He's talking to YOU.
[/quote]
This seems to be guilty of argument ad hominem. The truth of Christianity (or falsity) is not related to my being arrogant or not.

Don't feel special.. All of you god-buggerers think you have all the fucking answers because an old book of horseshit was read to you (piecemeal) when you were young.
Grow the fuck up.

The truth is, Jeff, you weren't sure it was God talking to you until after it seemed to turn out well. You seem to telling us that sometimes when you think God is talking to you, it's not. From here it looks like when you follow your intuition and get a special result, it was God, and when you don't get a special result, it wasn't.
That said, I hope those folks are better off for you having talked to them.

Drugs can give you an idea on how easily your mind can be fooled. Does that count as testimony? You should knoe LSD can get quite... real!

I heard a program recently that discussed that hearing voices, such as in schizophrenics, was found to be due to a delay in people hearing their own inner (mental) voice, so it seemed like the voice was coming from some other external entity. I haven't been able to find a link to it.

Somewhat akin to Deja Vu I suspect, where the signals take the scenic route through memory before consciousness.
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

Yeah, I've heard that before.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

I have yet to find a good link, but Ralph E. Hoffman MD seems to be the key.
