How is Yahweh not immoral?
RE: How is Yahweh not immoral?
Jeremiah 8:8-10
New International Version (NIV)

8 “‘How can you say, “We are wise,
for we have the law of the Lord,”
when actually the lying pen of the scribes
has handled it falsely?
9 The wise will be put to shame;
they will be dismayed and trapped.
Since they have rejected the word of the Lord,
what kind of wisdom do they have?
10 Therefore I will give their wives to other men
and their fields to new owners.
From the least to the greatest,
all are greedy for gain;
prophets and priests alike,
all practice deceit.

As a heathenous cherry picker, I get to call any law that I don't like, a LIE....

Fair enough. Then your morality is just as subjective as are the ones of people who reject the Bible altogether. You are not a Christian, you're a generic theist who likes Jesus.

More accurately, a cherry-picker can tell us that they don't agree with a given law, that it doesn't factor in to their personal beliefs..whether or not it's a "lie" would be another matter entirely. Similar to what Kirbmac has said, but slightly more probing....if you personally are capable of determining what is or is not law, then you would seem to be lending your own morality to the text...at which point, why is the text required...... or even useful?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

And if you have to cherry pick and the bible simply becomes an extension of your own views, what is the point of turning to e bible in the first place?

By the way, I followed up on this.

catfish Wrote:"Eternal" condemnation is not in the Bible and no matter how you spin it, an ion does NOT mean eternal...

Revelation 14:11
And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Matthew 25:45-46
“="He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

I don't turn to the Bible until some moron tries to tell me what it says and what I must do and believe... Undecided

You, like the fundies and other Christians, have zero business telling someone that they're not a Christian. You're welcome to try though, but be prepared for my rebuttal...

I'm confused. Are you saying that you are a Christian, but you don't turn to the bible for guidance?

I'm not telling you anything. If you want to call yourself a Christian, you're free to do it, and it's a moot point for me anyway, because your beliefs are not more valid than the ones of the fundies.

However, words have specific meanings. A Canadian is a citizen of Canada and a Christian is am an who belives in the truth of the gospels and in the divinity of Jesus (see Wiki for the details). Changing the meaning of word to suit your beliefs is not intellectually honest.

If you ignore the gospels and don't believe in the divinity of Jesus, you're not a Christian, otherwise even Muslims would be Christians (they think the Jesus was a prophetand they believe in his teachings, after all).

Anyway, I don't really care that much about what how you want to label yourself. You can call yourself a Christian, a follower of the first Church of Elvis or a believer in the Invisible Pink Unicorn. The important thing is that you can't claim any superiority of your subjective morality over other moral philosophies.

So, you take wiki's word for who is considered a Christian?
Wouldn't a "Christian" be one who followed the teachings of Christ (Yeshua)?
