What one thing would disprove Christianity to you?

RE: What one thing would disprove Christianity to you?
Now, Daniel, I'm really interested in hearing your response to this devil question. Is it not true that, without presupposing the truth of your religion, one cannot assume to know what a prankster god can or cannot do? I submit that we must accept the possibility that, if a person named Jesus ever WERE raised from the dead, we would have no way of knowing whether this was an act of God, or an act of another god, or an act of aliens, or an act of Voldemort... etc.

And, if the God were perhaps Yahweh, how would we KNOW he was telling the truth? The claims of the Bible God about morality and the nature of heaven and hell are totally unfalsifiable and could easily be enforced maliciously through mass revelatory delusion and a book sent down from above to deliberately mislead. An omnipotent being has no duty to man. If he were evil, he could easily dupe a whole race of people into following some preposterous religion that would get them sent to hell or worse, just for laughs. There's simply no way of knowing the mind or motivations of an otherworldy being, no matter how well a book and an emotional experience might make you think you know.

That is all.

I can't be sure that any single thing would disprove it until actually confronted with such thing, but I would find proof that the NT account of Jesus grew up from completely non-supernatural writings by or about a traveling rabbi to be pretty damaging.

If I may jump in on this one - faith is a freely admitted component of Christianity. This is part of the reason why.

See there is nothing worse than being accused of being unlearned, or in other words not too bright, by someone who appears to be as thick as mince themselves.
That's the point Norfolk. If I'm "thick as mince" you must be a muttonhead. Who are you, and why am I talking to you anyway? Are you a computer stalker? You must be a troll? Troll stay away from my post.

That's a great one. That can never be proven. Just ask Richard Dawkins "Why there ALMOST certainly is no God."

Some atheists feel the need to append "almost" to statements of otherwise categorical rejection of God because theists seize upon categorical rejection with foaming mouths screaming "PROVE HE DOESN'T EXIST".

Adding that touch of agnosticism satisfies intellectual honesty if your standard of such is complete precision, but I tend to take a practical approach to the question. No theist can prove God exists, so I do not see why I should humor them by pretending there is any realistic chance that their wishful thinking is accurate in any regard.

When the only defense you have is to appeal to infinitesimal odds, you don't have a position worth defending.

I am an atheist, and you are talking to me because you decided to come on to an atheist forum, full of atheists funnily enough, and start calling the shots - with poor grammar I might add. Which never makes a person look good.

No, I am here where I belong - it's not like I've travelled to one of your xtian shithead forums to engage you is it?

No, no, no...I'm an atheist, on an atheist forum. You are the one coming on here and calling people "unlearned" etc. Who is the troll?

How about you stay away from our forum?
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.
