No I disagree this is an extremely big deal and it's extremely important that I accept that I'm just flat out wrong because I forgot what the OP said precisely here years ago when the OP created this thread and I should have checked and it should have occured to me to check and I ultimately have control over what thoughts pop into my head!

Thanks for being awesome as hell, as always, Ivy.
I don't think that regarding oneself highly is arrogant as long as we regard our friends equally highly. I like myself, and I like my friends, and I think me and my friends are both awesome. And my friends would be awesome with
or without me. They're not awesome because they're my friends, they're awesome because of who they are. I think if I thought I was awesome but no one else was, that would be arrogant as hell, but I don't think putting myself on par with the people I value makes me arrogant. And in fact, far from my friends being awesome because they're my friends, I often feel like I must be awesome for my friends to value me, because they're such awesome people that surely I must be kind of okay to be liked by them. Or maybe it works both ways?
Perhaps the OP is wrong to exclude posting one's own epic and witty posts in this thread. We are not what others think of us. And obviously our own opinions of ourselves are not more important than other's opinions, and listening to others important, but they're not any less valuable either. What we think of ourselves, and what we say, and our posts, matters too.
