Which is funny, because the point at which you assumed I was American (I'm Australian, by the way) was a post I made discussing people, and things that aren't useful in interacting with them, not cultures.

Second or third? I thought you needed at least 5 languages to be considered properly of western Europe.

Let's see, I've got three languages that I can express myself properly in. I understand, read and can communicate basics in an additional three and speak a tourist variant and read a little of another two. Does that suffice?

Which is funny because as evidenced by the members of this forums there are mayn american who don't think that and despite the monstrosity that christianity is their nation along with their joke for a school system, some of them actually are intelligent. Aren't you british btw or am I mistaken?

I can speak a few words in English, Klingon and some of the Tolkien ones (Quenya, Sindarin, Khuzdul). I daren't ask what that makes me.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Thank you! Yes, that's really the gist of it. Norwegian and Danish comes 'free of charge' with Swedish. They are so similar that it isn't hard to communicate in Swedish with other Scandinavians. Estonian is quite similar to Finnish, though not as closely related as the Scandinavian languages are, but close enough that basic communication isn't too much of a hassle. German and French vocabulary is simple with Swedish and English in the back of your mind, the grammar is the biggest difference.
