Bristol University Christians ban women from speaking

Bristol University Christians ban women from speaking
LOL at "supposedly tame UK Christians."

Quote:Bristol University Christian Union have forbidden women from speaking at their weekly meetings.

The move reflects the recent decision by the Church of England synod to reject the introduction of female bishops, consequently ignoring the last century of the equal rights movement.

Having spent ‘a lot of time exploring this issue, seeking God’s wisdom on it and discussing it together’ the CU executive committee decided that it was no longer appropriate for women to teach alone at weekly meetings, or be the main speaker at the CU weekend away.

Women are now also banned from speaking alone at the group’s mission weeks.

However, it’s not all gloom and doom: women are allowed to speak as a double act with their husbands. Those who are unmarried must remain silent.

They go back so far in time, they might come across Jesus one day.

I want to say this is bullshit, but at least they seem to be in synch with what the Bible tells them. Doesn't make it right; after all, the Bible is just a misogynistic piece of garbage, but at least they're consistant.

What a bunch of fuckheads.

Typical of the religious mindset, however.

Women aren't allowed to talk?

Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

I don't know if I really care what the various churches do, or rules they have regarding women or gays. The women involved in the Anglican church should think twice about it, but I am neither.

Sometimes I wonder if churches becoming more intolerant might actually be good. The more they alienate themselves from reality, the faster they will die. I wonder, if there were a mathematical curve comparing tolerance level to decay level, what level would have the greatest integral. In other words, what level of intolerance would allow it do decay fast enought that the overall intolerance would be smallest?
...not that anyone could really calculate this...

No matter how intolerant they could become, their population would never be zero, look at Westboro Baptist church for an example. If their intolerance grew proportionally, mabe their acceptance would decrease in an inverse proportional way, but would never quite reach zero.

One would hope that all the women in the area would promptly become atheists and start a counter movement that lets everyone speak. I doubt that's going to happen, though. It's far more likely that everyone involved is so brainwashed they'll go along with oppression.

Also, I am not pretending to be female, this profile picture is my wonderful girlfriend. XD
