Every time they show their obsolete attitudes like this, they just drive more people away from their flock. Seems like a good thing to me.

The RCC has many weaknesses and as many problems. This embodies one of their problems. It's fine to have a policy in place, stating the Church's opinion on the matter. Anglican priests are allowed to ignore the sections of the Bible where Jesus himself states that divorce is only permitted for reasons attributed to pornea, and I'm allowed to believe they're in error on this without conflict and without controversy. Yet a 16-year old (who is still a developing adolescent) in the RCC isn't allowed to have his own opinion on a political matter that concerns events outside of the Church!
Oh and welcome to the new member KrisBlue, who is my nemesis since he's a dirty kiwi. And it's nice to see he's using his real face for his avatar, kudos for that.

I encourage my child to think outside the box. I find it to be abusive when people (parents, teachers, or religious leaders) tell a child how to think. If that 16 year old believes in marriage equality, big deal! It IS his brain after all.

Why someone would actually want to be confirmed as a member of that archaic organization is beyond me. The fact that the RCC hasn't completely collapsed under the weight of its own stupidity is frightening.

I know let's let them do whatever the f. they want to do, wouldn't that be great? There is a balance to these things you know, why take such an extremist view?
