Wow, the real reason why bad things happen.

No one is blaming anything on your fictitious deity. We are just pointing out that to believe your god was responsible for life itself and all that happens would mean admitting your god is a sadistic monster guilty of depraved indifference.

RE: Wow, the real reason why bad things happen.
Me: God, can I ask You a question?

God: Ok

Me: Promise You won't get mad

God: Why would I get mad?

Me: Why did You let so much stuff happen to me today?

God: What do u mean?

Me: Well, I woke up late and slipped and split my head open in the bathroom

God: Yes

Me: The brakes on my car didn't work and I caused a huge accident at the bottom of the hill killing two people and totaling my car.

God: Okay

Me: At lunch my wife called and said that she is divorcing me.

God: Huummm

Me: On the way home, I was jumped and beaten and robbed. They broke both of my arms and one of my legs.

God: All right

Me: And on top of it all off, when I got home I discovered that my house was on fire and I realized that I had forgotten to turn off the stove this morning.

God: Let me see I had to sent one of my angels to protect you and you are such a clutz that you tripped over him in the bathroom. You should see what you did to him!

Me (humbled): OH

GOD: You always take that hill too fast and I felt that it was time to teach you a lesson.

Me: (ashamed)

God: I am having your wife divorce you because I care about her and I know that she could do much better than you.

Me (embarrassed)Shockkay

God: About the broken arm and legs.. I was a little ticked off because you walked right past the guy from the Salvation Army ringing the bell and you only tossed him fifty cents.

Me (softly): I see God

God: Oh and that fire. The house you were renting was on a piece of property that will be better utilized by an ultra luxury apartment complex. You are not going to be able to afford to live there, but I guarantee you that it is going to be beautiful!

Me: I'm Sorry God

God: Don't be sorry, just learn to Trust Me.... in All things , the Good & the bad.

Me: I will trust You.

God: And don't doubt that My plan for your day is Always Better than your plan.

Me: I won't God. And let me just tell you God, Thank You for Everything today.

God: You're welcome child. It was just another day being your God and I Love looking after My Children...

Here is another version of the same thing...thought I recognised it.

I like your version better.
I have studied the Bible and the theology behind Christianity for many years. I have been to many churches. I have walked the depth and the breadth of the religion and, as a result of this, I have a lot of bullshit to scrape off the bottom of my shoes. ~Ziploc Surprise

Would any of our theist members care to comment on why this is so.

I knew this would eventually rear its ugly noggin!

Why stop there?! What about the 6 million Jews murdered in Europe? Or any of the mass-murders committed over the ions!

I know the reason...but you wouldn't understand it! Or want to understand it!

Just like you, or anyone here don't/won't understand God, or anyone of Faith.

So use your brains [if applicable] to figure it out! Y'all have the answers to everything anyway!

There's the easy way for you....keep blaming the God, that you don "think" exists!

Oh, we understand your god perfectly, it is a fictional character created to instil fear and obedience in the ignorant sheep.

My point being about the doublethink christians have to engage in, in order to continue to believe that their fictional god is benevolent when there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that he is.

Like others have pointed out:

How would god explain himself to somebody who get's raped and mutilated and have her entire family killed? Trust me, this is reality in a big part of the world. So the world's fantasticness isnt really something that's obvious for everyone.

Because billions of people think their imaginary friend is real and post this crap where we can see it. If it weren't for you guys, we wouldn't have anything to say about it. One of the stupid things you guys do is act like being appalled at your excuses for the being you say is all-good and all-powerful not doing anything to alleviate the suffering of children dying in slow agony is about the being itself instead of how you represent it.

Because you guys won't stop saying stupid things.

We do help, sanctimony noted, but we're only human. No matter how many diseases we can prevent or cure, how many people we feed and clothe, there are always more. Only someone who is omnipotent could possibly deserve blame for there being needless death and suffering in the world. You say there is someone like that, but you want us to ignore your claim unless we're looking to buy in. How about you get off your 'phat ass' and help people, since you apparently don't think it's possible to do that and still post on the internet.

Again, you must either think that it's not possible to post here and do that, so you're a hypocrite for not helping people yourself; or you think we can do it and don't, in which case you're a bigot.

The reason you're the lone Catholic is that the previous ones have been as insulting as you. Is it something about Catholicism that makes you like that? We've gotten Protestants who are at least civil, so I'm a bit curious.

You're not that hard to understand, and neither is your God. You're determined to believe, and you ascribe to your God any characteristics convenient to continuing to do so.

'God' isn't responsible for anything. People are responsible for the nonsense they spout, though, which is what this thread is about.

The only "truth" you said that makes any real sense.

I'm also human in addition to being Catholic.

Think of my humanness, and vulgarity at times as your mirror image.

I'll dish it out after a while of receiving it, YES!

So save the speeches for your Atheist rally.

We don't understand why do you have to make charity on the name of something unexistant, we don't understand why if your god existed, he had the need to kill himself (or his son or whatever stupidity you concoct from your apologetic mind), for the good of humanity, we don't understand why a poor deluded woman had to evangelize kids in his name, we don't understand why such a powerfull being needs to be worshipped, we don't understand why does he hides from us, we don't understand why the world can be explained perfectly by natural means.

Stop trying to make other be hypocrites, because probably most atheists on this forum have helped in charity more than you. Its just that we don't flaunt our charity as a way to charge some unexistent deity for a place in a 'heaven', we do it because we are humans and we know other humans suffer.

I have to agree. The only logical explanation would be that if there is a God then that God does not intercede on any level.

Some Christian pastor might tell a cute story about he and his wife were 'led' to shop at a quaint little country store where they found their favorite bread on sale and roll of cash on the floor -- that they used to pay for the groceries. But on the other hand you have whole groups of Christians praying in Palestinian hospitals for their children who are suffering and dying. But instead of healing the sick children God allows the Israeli military to fly over and bomb the hospital killing everybody inside.

A cynic would argue that it is easy for a prosperous Christian living in a wealthy nation to attribute their success to God, but that life is not so easy in other countries. And what people are really attributing to God could be attributed to the better economic system of the more prosperous nation.

Wtf did I just read? Is that your answer? Seriously? If it is easy for you to answer, then why didn't you? Instead, you chose to make an half-arsed attempt to insult me with a 6th grade insult. You should know those do not work on me Big Grin

But really, do you have an easy answer? Lets hear it.

RE: Wow, the real reason why bad things happen.
You think that God has the plans? Don't be ridiculous.

He takes orders from me. The truth is: you are ALL so insignificant that you do not matter enough for DIVINE INTERVENTION. Shit happens because I want your population kept at a manageable level for a few years (rising though, gotta milk this horse for all it's worth). You can join the rest of the civilized galaxy when you figure out ways to stop most of the little 'bad things' from happening ON YOUR OWN.

To your credit... you've gotten better in the last few hundred years Smile Hospital sanitation was a good move ^_^ But turn up the heat for fuck's sake 0.o
