Access to a firearm. Kid should have had his own firearm so he could defend himself against himself.

Then you bring up the video of the girl at a GUN RANGE accidentally shooting the instructor in the head with the uzi, I am sure all his good intent as an instructor helped him. Naw, and I am also sure that girl wont have a lifetime of mental issues knowing she accidentally killed someone with it. Who cares, because "Bullets and Burgers" sounds serious, not like an amusement park where you walk up to a vendor to buy some cotton candy.

Kinda like when theists argue, "a tornado knocked down my church" or "I cant believe Roof went into a church and killed people, churches are sacred". "Bad things never happen to or in churches" 

Same selection bias and sample rate error as "I don't have any bad intent" when nobody is arguing about intent. Math, probability. Repeat a behavior enough your odds increase. Even in California just on earthquakes. 200 years ago not many people died from earthquakes, because not many people lived in California. Today, most earthquakes are small and building codes have improved. If we had the same building codes as 150 years ago in California with today's population, the death rate from 7 or 8 would be far higher.

Same with Tornados in Oklahoma. There are not that many deaths from Tornados because it is not a very populated state and the building codes are a minimum so that most can survive a 1 or 2 or 3. F5s are very rare. But in the future as that population grows, those current laws will have to be updated.

Same with guns, we don't still have muskets alone and our population is far bigger and the gun technology has changed drastically since 1781.

I simply don't think it is enough to simply blame the parent because these "accidents" happen all the time and far too much.

I've been an owner and a shooter since 1965. Gunners can cry "persecution!" if they wish, it always makes me laugh.

If your argument starts out with shouts of "DOOMSDAY" it is a good sign, to even Gawdzilla that not only are you paranoid, but literally treating the firearm as a human being and not and object. And it would also indicate that you are delusional and are not taking your RIGHT as seriously as the RESPONSIBILITY you should take it as.

If everyone had Gawdzilla's ATTITUDE and he is a firearm owner, I really think we could solve our firearm death epidemic and neither he or I have ever or will ever call for an all out ban. So please, if you don't like me, argue with Gawdzilla, he owns firearms.

Loved ones remember 12-year-old Jacksonville girl killed in unintentional shooting

The 12-year-old was fast asleep on a couch when she was struck in the head by a bullet fired by the homeowner’s nephew in what was described as an accident, according to Times-Union news partner First Coast News.

Ra’Mya was treated at UF Health Jacksonville. But after surgery, physicians could not detect any brain activity and expressed doubts about her recovery. She died Thursday after she was removed from life support.

Tragic but then come the rationalizations.

“I guess the Lord needed her more than we did and he took her home to be with him,” she said.

No, some moron left a loaded gun laying around where another kid could find it.

Is no one safe? Embarrassing wave of accidents befall 'experts.' GunFAIL CCXL

What are they teaching people about basic gun safety at the nation’s gun ranges these days, anyway? Well, whatever they were teaching at the OK Corral Shooting Club in Okeechobee, Florida, couldn’t have helped much. Not when a competitive shooter there became so excited after his performance that he accidentally shot himself in the thigh while attempting to “bust a move” in a celebratory dance. Nor was it any better at the highly esteemed Sig Sauer Academy in Epping, New Hampshire, when a trainee accidentally shot himself in the leg while holstering his gun. (This is the second time the gun manufacturer’s own training academy has made our GunFAIL lists.) So, how do you top accidentally shooting yourself at a gun manufacturer’s training facility? Why, you shoot yourself at NRA headquarters, of course! As a NRA employee, no less! Just like our trainee in Epping, this victim accidentally shot himself in the leg while holstering his weapon during a training session at their on-site range.

Accidentally shooting yourself at the training range at NRA headquarters has got to be the topper, I would think. What a week! Thanks, gun experts! Keep on keeping us all safe!

TIMBLIN BOROUGH, PA, 4/08/17: State Police in Jefferson County are investigating after a 14 year old boy was allegedly accidentally shot in the head. Police say the Amish teen was found inside a home on East Market Street in Timblin Borough, Jefferson County, with a gunshot wound to the head, around 4:00 PM on Saturday, April 8. The victim had a gunshot wound in his left eye, from what police say, was an accidental discharge of a .22 caliber revolver, which was allegedly in the hands of the victim's younger brother. The victim was flown to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh UPMC and is in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

An Amish boy with a revolver?  Stick to muzzle loaders like the good lord intended, son.

I thought this was worth mentioning again, especially since it is mentioned in an article regarding the recent attack on Replicunts.

It’s true that the Second Amendment guaranteed the right to “keep and bear Arms,” namely for the purpose of maintaining a “well regulated Militia.” The word “militia,” however, held very different meaning in the 18th Century than today. Due to financial constraints and experiences with European soldiers oppressing citizenry, George Washington and his fellow Founders believed that the military should be disbanded in times of peace, and the citizens’ militias would remain intact for purposes of defense — not to overthrow the government.

The Declaration of Independence does assert that right, saying:

“…it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish [the government], and to institute new Government” and “when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”

They believed so strongly in this right that they fought a war 240 years ago so that they could create a government where their fellow countrymen and women would have it guaranteed and would never again be forced to resort to violence to cast off the yoke of oppression. They instituted a system of peaceful overthrow, which they called elections.

It is the misguided conflation of these two rights that has conservatives defending the Second Amendment with logic that both fails to line up with our Founders intent and can be used to justify acts of violence against public officials.
