Ah...the price of "freedom."

In 2015, 582 children ages 11 and under died from gunshots wounds in America, according to the nonprofit Gun Violence Archive. Additionally, 2,151 children ages 12-17 were killed.

Dog named Trigger shoots owner during Indiana waterfowl hunt

Indiana Conservation Officer Jonathon Boyd says 25-year-old Allie Carter of Avilla laid her 12-gauge shotgun on the ground without the safety on during a waterfowl hunt Saturday at Tri-County Fish and Wildlife Area.


Boyd says Carter's chocolate Labrador retriever, Trigger, stepped on top of the shotgun and depressed the trigger.

They call it a "safety" for a reason.

Goddamnit. So this happened tonight in my town. Last week it was the 8-year-old in the next city over who died when her mother's gun "fell" and discharged. Tonight my husband and I were leaving the grocery store about two miles from this shooting. I saw the police units rush by and wondered what was up. I sort of wish now I didn't know. This shit is becoming a weekly occurrence.

I mean, what is the defense here? That if only there had been one good guy in the room with a gun this wouldn't have happened? I keep hearing the gun nuts say it's disrespectful to talk about gun control after a gun related tragedy, but then when the fuck will it ever be the appropriate time to discuss it, since this shit happens on the daily?
