I'm not trying to be insensitive; loosing family is horrible. But we are talking about ~60 relatives. Is that correct?
Yep, spread out over six states and 18 years. One of the cousins decided to do a family history. She quit when she got more information than she was comfortable with.

Sorry, but 72 children in one family dead from accidental gunshot wounds? Sounds like BS to me.
http://www.bradycampaign.org/key-gun-vio...statistics
Quote:In One Year on Average (ages 0-19)
17,102 American children and teens are shot in murders, assaults, suicides & suicide attempts, unintentional shootings, or by police intervention.
2,737 kids die from gun violence:
1,606 murdered
958 die from suicide
110 killed unintentionally
26 killed by legal intervention
36 die but intent was unknown
In a year, 110 accidental deaths in the US, and that's going up to age 19 - preteens would be lower (I haven't found stats specifically for preteens).

Are you suggesting that 110 is an acceptable number, A/M?

That's four a year spread out over six states, not a drop in the bucket in the grand total of firearm deaths each year. BTW, I currently have over 1,100 people who qualify for our family reunions. Them hillbillies breed like rabbits.
But, please, feel free to pick and choose what you want to believe, the dead don't care.

Sadly, too many of the living don't care either.

Quite true. Most of them don't seem to be learning from this minaminiature holocaust they've created for their kids. One more reason I don't see much of them.

The laboratories of democracy.... now that Washington has fallen to big-money fuckers.

Quote:Chicago suburb bans assault weapons, and the NRA is threatening to sue
Quote:The NRA and a group called “Guns Save Life” are threatening a lawsuit to overturn the ban. This is a stupid threat, since the issue of assault weapons bans has been thoroughly litigated:
Quote:Several powerful federal appeals courts have ruled that prohibitions on assault weapons were permissible under the Second Amendment, and no federal appeals court has ever held that assault weapons were protected, as The Post’s Meagan Flynn and Fred Barbash have reported. Those courts have also found that states and municipalities have sound reasons to ban military-style weapons without curtailing people’s right to self-defense.

Funny how conservatives are all about Federalism and 'laboratories of democracy' on such a selective basis.
It's almost like they're full of shit.

Nope. Here's what I'm saying:
110 up to age 19 means about 70 preteens. Maybe a little more or less, but close enough for this purpose.
If a family has 4 of those 70 per year, that means it has 5.7% of such deaths.
The US has roughly 50 million preteens.
5.7% of 50 million is 2,850,000. That's how many preteens need to be in his family if his family is representative of the country as a whole.
So, I think his figures are bullshit.

So keeping G.S.'s family away from guns, would significantly alter the figures? Might also be a good idea to keep them away from operating heavy equipment and pointy things
