So the tally of dead bodies has reached 3,729 - surpassing the total of both sides at the Battle of Shiloh - while the merchants of death continue to rake in their blood-soaked profits, to keep bribing congressmen and idiots talk about their "rights."

Quote: BURKESVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A 5-year-old boy accidentally shot his 2-year-old sister to death in rural southern Kentucky with a rifle he had received as a gift last year, authorities said.
The children's mother was home at the time of the shooting Tuesday afternoon but had stepped on to the porch for "no more than three minutes," Cumberland County Coroner Gary White told WKYT-TV.
White told the Lexington Herald-Leader the boy received the .22-caliber rifle as a gift. He said the rifle was kept in a corner and the family didn't realize a bullet was left inside it.
"It's a Crickett," White said, referring to a company that specifically makes guns, clothes and books for children. "It's a little rifle for a kid. ... The little boy's used to shooting the little gun."

Not to worry, Sen. Manchin intends to reintroduce his completely lame gun control bill so the shithead republicunts can once again sell out to the gun lobby.

Quote:CORSICANA — A toddler died late Wednesday after accidentally shooting himself.
Corsicana Police Chief Randy Bratton said the boy's 35-year-old father called 911 just before 9 p.m. and told dispatchers his son shot himself at the family's home on North 30th Street.
Clearly this kid was NOT a responsible gun owner!!!!

That fucking figures.

While Congress waits to reintroduce even the limp-dick gun control bill they have cobbled together we have now reached 4,652 bodies in the pile of murder victims in the US.
http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_p...oting.html
We have blown right by Antietam at 3654 and the next marker is Iwo Jima where 6,821 Americans died in battle.
Will Congress act before we reach that or Guadalcanal at 7,099 or Gettysburg at 7,863 or, gasp, Okinawa at 12,513?
Or, will they continue to cave to the gun nuts and not give a rats' ass how many have to die so the death merchants can maintain their profit margin?

True that ...
One thing which amazed me when I first came to US was there are 2 easy things for a nut job to obtain: driving licence and firearm licence .... WTF
Later is even easier
Where I came from you had to take some serious sanity test and full background check to get it

Are you seriously comparing a civil society with warzones?

What civil society are you speaking of?

Quote:SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) - The gunman, dressed all in black and carrying a semi-automatic rifle, walked calmly through the Santa Monica College campus after killing his father, brother and another person, authorities said. He would kill a woman outside the library moments later, before dying from police gunfire.

4,820 murdered
But of course, there is another aspect to the problem...

Quote:What passes under the radar of the scope of firearm carnage is the number of people who are wounded by guns and survive. The CDC estimates that two people are wounded by gunshots for every person killed. In 2010, the CDC reported that 73,505 Americans were treated in hospital emergency rooms by our trauma colleagues who labor so hard to save the wounded — many of these injuries are preventable by more sensible policies than we have now.
This endemic plague of gun violence is clearly an unresolved public health issue of major proportions. We in medicine, personally and collectively, have largely rationalized our non-involvement, being pre-occupied with too many competing public health demands or have bought into the peculiar way in recent years that the one-issue, narrow-minded have controlled the subject of the role of guns in our culture and/or we just wanted to stay away from the aroma of the whole mess.
Another point, one that goes directly to our pocketbooks is that firearm-related deaths and injuries result in an estimated $2.3 billion each year, according to a JAMA study. Half of that cost is borne by U.S. taxpayers.
