I would be fine with it, because I do not care what others think of me. All that matters is what I know to be true of myself.

Are you seriously taking this fallacious route, attempting to compare guns to sexuality?
Guns do real harm to people. One's personal sexual orientation does no harm to anyone.

[/quote]I'm not comparing guns with sexuality. My comparison places homophobes who seek to control others because of their personal bias on one side, and gun riddance advocates who do the same from their side. It's a valid comparison. Try to be less emotional and you'll be able to see more clearly.

I always remain unemotional. I am a sociopath, after all, and I still fail to see the valid comparison.

I always remain unemotional. I am a sociopath, after all, and I still fail to see the valid comparison. One one side you have gun abolitionists saying that what gun owners desire serves no useful purpose and is destructive to society, and that their way should therefore be "The way things are" - Imposing a bias onto others.
On the other side you have gay haters saying that what gays desire serves no useful purpose and is destructive to society, and that their way should therefore be "The way things are" - Imposing a bias onto others.
(let's add a third scenario as a qualifier)
On yet another side you have Christians saying that what atheists desire serves no useful purpose and is destructive to society, and that their way should therefore be "The way things are" - Imposing a bias onto others.
All three positions are equally oppressive and violent, regardless of the topic matter. Humans telling other humans how things "Should be", is the issue here.

I fail to see how criminals have guns so I need to have one too is a logical course toward ending violence.
In fact, scenario number one: guns are banned, criminals can still get guns while the victims cannot legally obtain them. Criminals shoot victims. Violence.
Scenario number two: everyone can have a gun, criminals still get guns, both the victims and the criminals shoot at each other. Violence.
Where does the violence end, if not in banning guns or ensuring stricter gun laws?
A logical course of action in ending the violence, I believe, is not in allowing the victims to have guns to perpetuate the violence enacted upon them by the criminals. What must be done is to find a way to ensure there is no way criminals can illegally obtain guns, but how to go about doing that is unclear. I am certain a way could be discovered, however.

I should have been more specific. Where does the gun violence end.

"Where does the drug use end, if not in banning drugs or ensuring stricter drug laws?"
See what I did there?

Not really. Drugs are just as bad as guns. Are you advocating for drugs as much as you are for guns?

I should have been more specific. Where does the gun violence end. I was under the impression that a gun could not be violent, but rather the person holding it. Another question would be "where does violence end?" My answer stands.

Not really. Drugs are just as bad as guns. Are you advocating for drugs as much as you are for guns? Obviously saying that the banning and laws are ineffective.
