That would be a reasonable argument if this incident was a shooting spree.

Sure, I was speaking more broadly (but specifically the movie theatre incident I was responding to). Certainly, we can't legislate entire nations on the basis of anecdotes.

Two Michigan drivers shot and killed each other Wednesday night after a road rage incident took a fatal turn in a drive-in car wash parking lot, police said.

Robert Taylor, 56, and James Pullum, 43, were driving on a highway in Ionia, Mich., when Taylor began to closely follow Pullum, according to the Ionia Public Safety Department, based on witness reports.

The two drivers eventually pulled into the parking lot of Wonder Wand Car Wash, at the intersection of M-66 highway and Steele Street. where they got out of their vehicles and fired shots at each other, police said. The two men exchanged a total of eight to nine shots, police said.

Yep...firepower did each a world of good.

Yeah... but anecdotal arguments aren't that persuasive.. I'm aware of gun violence, as well as illegal firearms, irresponsible owners, mental illness, CIA weapon smuggling, etc. Then there are the facts:

"The expression anecdotal evidence refers to evidence from anecdotes. Because of the small sample, there is a larger chance that it may be unreliable due to cherry-picked or otherwise non-representative samples of typical cases." Yeah..I'd say your news story fits the bill. Is murder a new phenomenon to you or something? I'm pretty sure people (and animals) kill each other every day without the assistance of guns.

BRIMFIELD, OH, 12/17/13: Two Brimfield Township police officers have been disciplined after one of their guns accidently fired while they cleaned their weapons at Field High School. No students were harmed during the incident last month. The officers involved are school resource officers and they remain assigned to the high school. Police Chief David Oliver said Friday that both officers used poor judgment by choosing to clean their pistols during school hours. He said they used an isolated, cinder-blocked room while students were in class. He said the department at the time didn’t have a policy covering the cleaning of weapons at the school by resource officers because he never envisioned such a scenario unfolding. A written policy is now in place. “We didn’t have it in writing because, to be 100 percent honest, it never crossed my mind that someone would clean their weapon at a school. That just doesn’t happen,” Oliver said. “That, to me, is just common sense.”

I am puking sick of reading every single day about how your baby, your toddler, your brother, your sister, your cousin, your niece, your nephew, blew their brains into their lap with a gun you left lying around, because freedom, or something.

I can find articles of people killing each other with knifes, bats, tools, fists, fire, cars.... whats the point? Should we ban all those things too?

The problem is behavioral. Need more gun education. Need mandatory gun safety classes for owners. Teach all our children responsible firearms training and safety.

My father taught me about guns when I was very little, the operation of them, cleaning of them, and how to use them safely.

A gun just sitting on a table with never shoot someone, a human does that, this is a human issue not a gun issue. And it is my right to own a gun.
