His view is that they are a health risk in the wrong hands. His leftist tendencies are irrelevant. Give me a situation where openly carrying an assault rifle or any military-grade weapon is a good idea or actually deters crime. If that was the case, then all of America's police force would carry the same. From what i understand, a concealed handgun has much more potential as a violent crime deterrent. So, what exactly is it about his leftist views that you don't like? He has a legitimate concern, but it seems your own right agenda is getting in the way of understanding that.

When they make a succinct point, yes. People are more inclined to listen to comedians in some cases, so it becomes the perfect medium to get information out.

Oh man. You sound like you've never been mugged before. You just have no idea how useless an AR is against someone stopping you with a handgun. They can hide theirs, so you have no idea that they're a threat until they are upon you. Once they've held you up, then they can take your gun from you at will.

Assault rifles have their uses: sports (entertainment/range shooting), hunting (for certain game), private security, and military. Open carry with them is prone to problems; not only do you paint yourself as a target, but acting like a hero with them can get everyone killed in a desperate situation.

Ownership of them is a tricky thing because if you're not careful the wrong person can get ahold of them and wreak havoc. (Nearly all assault assault rifle deaths in the US are from legally-owned weapons.)

What other examples do you have, KUSA? I'm glad we could hash out the gun registry thing rationally (for the most part), but I wonder if we can have a similar discussion about assault rifles. Why are you really opposed to banning them?

"Paraplegic shot, killed armed intruder" seems a lot less credible than "landlord shoots tennants". That last one is all the craze these days, angry white males shooting and killing (usually black) teens. At some points teens are gonna shoot back.

A lot less credible because a paraplegic used a gun to defend himself against an armed intruder...how is that less credible?.....No. All the craze these days is usually black teen thugs shooting and killing other black teen thugs, (including innocent black bystanders)...

I thought the craze was white men shooting black kids who are effing cocky enough to wear hoodies...maybe that's just in Florida.

We have road laws to curb the death toll due to automobile accidents; gun laws and restrictions on carrying and owning simply make sense for the same reason. A lot of sense.
