"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment) (April 16, 2014 at 2:56 pm)Rampant.A.I. What does your list have to do with a flooded market created by assholes who don't care about how many flood our society? If we had 31,000 people dying from West Nile virus every year we would damned sure work to reduce it. In a perfect utopia your list would not bother me. But the fact is 300 million guns, both legal and illegal, ARE causing problems because they are made like candy and handed out like candy. Guns are not candy but the manufactures insist on marketing them like candy. America is not at a point in history where "lets make more" and "leave it as it is" is pragmatic. If there were not 31,000 gun deaths per year we wouldn't be having this discussion. Your rights are NOT the issue. Any big business CEO, not just gun manufacture's, but any big business CEO will tell you their job is to keep and or expand the market. Now, if they keep making them at the rate they do it will get to 500 million, then a billion. Do you really think we need all of that floating around? And do you think more guns will cause less gun death? If we lived in a Utopia I would not care at all, but in the real world our amount of gun death, with both legally and illegally purchased guns is unacceptable to me. Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.
While waiting for practical and workable improvements lets see the latest listing of 'law-abiding and responsible gun-owners' who sent their freedom missiles flying into themselves or others.
It's a long list. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/04/17...unFAIL-LXV Quote:Another week heavy on the self-shootings. We have 40 total listings, and 21 of them involve people accidentally shooting themselves. RE: All Hail the Second Amendment

None that the gun nuts will accept.
They want to continue to be free to shoot themselves in the ass. That does not bother me. It's when they shoot other people in the ass that I get concerned. You see, what this series of articles I've been posting shows that it is not "criminals" who are the main problem. It is idiots. We have no plans to stop idiots from getting guns. Please think of some. RE: All Hail the Second Amendment

Reasonable restrictions would include training and licensing just like we do to keep SUVs out of the hands of idiots. That works so well.
